Category:Round Square Schools[edit]

Hi, i'm not sure if i'm doing this right, but I'm looking for the person who created the category:Round Square schools page. The information on the page is wrong and details a lot of schools who are not member schools and this has been notice by a member of the Round Square board. Please remove this page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by KatieRoundSquare (talkcontribs) 15:22, 12 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@KatieRoundSquare: To see who created a category, click on the "View history" tab and find the oldest entry. In this case it's Kappa (talkcontribs). Good luck on working with them to fix any issues! RevelationDirect (talk) 00:42, 13 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you so much! It's been a nightmare trying to resolve this — Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.229.116.32 (talk) 09:24, 15 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Suggestion re cancer CFD[edit]

Re [1] - you could insert "English" after "higher percentage of" to make the point clearer. DexDor (talk) 06:03, 3 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the tip; done. RevelationDirect (talk) 12:31, 3 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Waheed Murad[edit]

I am advised to contact you for the un-deletion of Category:Waheed Murad as I intend to improve it. Kindly give me a chance to do so. -175.107.8.3 (talk) 20:57, 8 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

You don't need my permission but I'm happy to offer advice. Please read the WP:EPONCAT guideline. With that in mind, what articles were you going to put in the category? RevelationDirect (talk) 02:53, 10 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I am going to include different articles on Waheed Murad in this category but first I have to read it that is why I have requested for undeletion.

The category had been filled with nearly every article that linked to Waheed Murad and would be a poor starting point. I would start with the Waheed Murad article and work out from there. RevelationDirect (talk) 11:04, 10 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Word of thanks...[edit]

Thanks for the kind remark about the Tiffany Cross article. At the time I put it together, I was going for a featured list. But my mentor quit Wikipedia, and it never happened. To use a biblical phrase, I was "sore afraid" that what we were taking about was deleting it. The overlapping interests found in Wikipedia continue to amaze. I never made the encyclopedic connection to the overall company story, and now I have ☺. Best, user:JMOprof ©¿©¬ 17:45, 24 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

That's my favorite thing about Wikipedia, that I can follow alternative connections I hadn't thought of! RevelationDirect (talk) 19:03, 24 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for letting me know - I have no objection. Thanks, RD. Neutralitytalk 15:14, 3 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

CFD closure[edit]

Hi; I have closed this CFD. Do you know how to make the appropriate edits to the necessary templates to empty the categories? I got lost in the process of trying to figure it out. Good Ol’factory (talk) 02:08, 25 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I'll take a look when I have some more time this weekend. RevelationDirect (talk) 09:14, 26 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@Good Olfactory: I'm not of much help here. I was going to point you to Template talk:WP1.0#v0.7 category but it looks like Fayenatic london already posted this issue at Wikipedia:Requested templates. I'm willing to learn once I see how someone makes these changes for this since there are similar categories I'd like to nominate. RevelationDirect (talk) 02:47, 27 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. I thought it was worth a shot. Good Ol’factory (talk) 02:48, 27 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Barnstars are simply not good enough[edit]

If there was a prize for thoroughness and taking the issue of CFD with the seriousness it really should encourage, your most recent edits are too good for barnstars The simple but good humour and tact with the Indonesian project has an exemplary quality that should be revered JarrahTree 01:38, 5 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Haha, thanks! RevelationDirect (talk) 02:14, 5 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Clarification suggestion[edit]

In your comment at WT:CAT do you mean "...it's still reasonable to categorize Category:Amazon River under Category:International rivers of South America since the whole category (more or less) belongs there. But all the local state categories, like Category:Rivers of Pará, are not appropriate as parents of Category:Amazon River since only a fraction of the Amazon is there." (changes in bold) ? DexDor (talk) 22:01, 12 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for copyediting my semi-incoherent comments. I clarified that post. RevelationDirect (talk) 01:39, 13 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Contests[edit]

User:Dr. Blofeld has created Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/Contests. The idea is to run a series of contests/editathons focusing on each region of Africa. He has spoken to Wikimedia about it and $1000-1500 is possible for prize money. As someone who has previously expressed interest in African topics, would you be interested in contributing to one or assisting draw up core article/missing article lists? He says he's thinking of North Africa for an inaugural one in October. If interested please sign up in the participants section of the Contest page, thanks.♦ --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 01:36, 21 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

A discussion you may be interested in[edit]

I have just made a new nomination for renaming categories for those U.S cities where the article doesn't include the state name. Since you participated in a recent discussion about this, you may want to express your opinion at Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2016 September 6#Major US cities. עוד מישהו Od Mishehu 16:18, 6 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Erin Brockovich and Category:Works involved in a lawsuit[edit]

I am curious why you included the film Erin Brockovich in the category Works involved in a lawsuit. That category is for a film, book, play or other literary or similar work itself is challenged in court or someone's use of that work is challenged in court. It does not include works that are about a lawsuit.

Now, if someone was sued over this film or the film itself was challenged in a lawsuit, it would be appropriate to include it. If so, this fact should be included in the article (see the example in Carnal Knowledge where a Georgia theater manager was prosecuted for showing the film). If not, that category should be removed from the film's article. Let me know within a week if that is the case, otherwise if I don't hear from you by next Wednesday I'm going to remove the category from the article about the movie Erin Brockovich). Paul Robinson (Rfc1394) (talk) 06:06, 2 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Rfc1394: Good catch, I misread the category to be for works *about* a lawsuit. I undid that edit. Thanks. RevelationDirect (talk) 22:53, 23 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Recategorisation of ChildLine[edit]

ChildLine is not a 'crisis helpline' so Robot - Speedily moving category Helplines to Category:Crisis hotlines per CFDS. is incorrect. ChildLine is a free 24-hour counselling service for children and young people, ie it is available to those who are not in crisis, though that may be the case. I understand that the proposed change was unopposed, but I guess those like me who understand the aims and purposes of the organisation to do follow these things closely. Can you revert? Shipsview (talk) 11:59, 3 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Shipsview: Thanks for the feedback. To give a little background on the category rename, the main article for the category is and has always been Crisis hotline. Generally, we like to keep the main article and category the same both to make it easier to navigate and because the main article will help people know what belongs in that category. You think helpline is a broader term than "crisis hotline" and that ChildLine no longer fits. I don't disagree with you. I guess the question is how should we fix this?
  • 1. You could propose renaming the category back with a WP:CFD nomation. (I would not favor this approach but feel free to disagree with me.)
  • 2. You could rename the crisis hotline article to helpline as Fayenatic suggested through a Requested Move. (If that passed, I would speedy rename the category back so it matches the new main article name.)
  • 3. We could recategorize the article. (I did this for now and moved the article into the awkwardly named Category:Information by telephone parent category.)
Thanks for sharing my interest in making sure categories are right. Hope that helps! RevelationDirect (talk) 04:00, 4 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. I do not understand where the "category is and has always been Crisis hotline" comes from as I can see nothing in the article that states this. However, helpline is a more accurate reflection of the organisation than crisis hotline, so again, thank you. Shipsview (talk) 17:01, 4 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
No, I meant that's always been the name of the main article (Crisis hotline); the corresponding category (Category:Helplines) was obviously just changed. Do you think the article should be renamed? RevelationDirect (talk) 21:34, 4 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Am I am being incredibly thick? The word 'crisis' is not mentioned in the ChildLine article. Or are you asking if the Crisis hotline article should be renamed? To which my response would be 'I think not'?Shipsview (talk) 17:37, 5 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I don't seem to be explaining well; sorry if I'm the one being thick or maybe we just disagree so much it's hard for us to communicate. I didn't change the ChildLine article per se. Rather, the category was automatically renamed at the bottom of every article. The "Helpline" category no longer exists.
Since you don't favor renaming [Crisis hotline]], perhaps the best way forward is to focus on the ChildLine article and see if the categories I added to the bottom of that page are a good fit. RevelationDirect (talk) 03:44, 6 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I am happy with your selection of categories. Thank you! Shipsview (talk) 15:38, 6 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

wow[edit]

notifying a project of a cfd - I never thought I would ever see that - is that a personal initiative or had it been initiated somewhere I hadnt noticed? - whichever - thanks for doing that - and have a safe new year ! JarrahTree 02:52, 29 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@JarrahTree: More of a personal initiative, at least so far. While everyone in the CFD discussions is sincere, changes are often made without any feedback to the recommendation which concerns me so I've been doing some manual tagging. The results have been uneven though since so many (most?) WikiProjects are inactive. Appreciate the encouragement! RevelationDirect (talk) 11:35, 29 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Well done even more so then, in the past, so many cfds were never ever referred to the subject area projects and you could wake up one morning to find a whole landscape changed without notice - as for all the quiet projects - what a very sensitive issues that is.... theyre not inactive - it's... nah I can only think of allusive frank zappa jokes or lewis carroll verses - none really possible here...
