Azad Hind Page

In an attempt to avoid an internet flame war that likely wouldn't be productive, I'm going to assume that you're actually trying to be helpful and not simply hitting undo out of bias or spite. To that end, I've reworded the paragraph instead of deleting it, retaining all historical fact and only changing the wording. Before you hit undo again I would like to point out a few things:

A) As I have pointed out in the talk page, you have failed to explain why Free India needs quotes - it is a name, not a description.

B) Redundant wording has been removed (Yes, it possessed all the nominal requisites of a government - that's why, as the page title says, it was called a government. Smile Foundation Suggestion

Hi Roller26, we interacted briefly on the Smile Foundation DRV. I endorsed the deletion close and maintained that position in the DRV. I've just now seen it closed, and also your (near the end) specification of 3 substantive, independent, reliable sources. I don't know enough about Indian media to confirm they are in fact independent and reliable, but they do meet what I would have hoped to see as substantive coverage. I did not return further to the DRV (after our brief exchange there) but at least they would have given me pause, and I'm not convinced anyone else evaluated them after you put them up either.

As I and others mentioned, if you continue to feel strongly about this article, you could create a new draft, featuring these sources prominently and avoiding some of the promotional tone which raised alarm bells (though I no longer recall the text of the article). People more knowledgeable than I would evaluate it with fresh eyes if you then submitted for moving to mainspace - Draft space can be friendlier in that people are debating back and forth and (hopefully) suggesting improvements, not reaching for the delete button and setting deadlines on discussions. Martinp, thanks for your comment. I understand the concern about Indian media reliability especially in the last 5 years in regards to political coverage. But Indian Express is considered reliable even in WP:RSP, one of the only 2 Indian media organizations to have that tag. Hindustan Times in my opinion has been more reliable than Times of India (which has no consensus on RSP) especially four to five years back. As the article is from 2009, it can be considered as reliable sourcing. Interestingly the same media house as Hindustan Times publishes Mint (newspaper), one of the most reliable Indian business papers. Its founder Raju Narisetti is a current board member of Wikimedia foundation
I also feel that probably no one participating in DRV paid attention to my later comment. As I mentioned in the comment that I don't have any particular interest in this organization or the board topic as well. Only the fact that it was being deleted troubled me. However the article "Smile Foundation" does have a troubled history. It seems that people connected with organization repeatedly create the article in promotional language, without understanding the guidelines here, leading to its deletion. Even when DRV was going on, someone recreated the article leading to indefinite salting requiring admin access. Roller26 (talk) 10:10, 7 October 2020 (UTC)

Yoninah, understanding NFCC or fair use image policy and guidelines is an acknowledged difficult task. Could you refer me to the appreciate policy, guideline or consensus where the above conclusion has been determined. Because my reading of WP:Non-free content criteria Policy No 7 is that the fair use image is to used in a minimum of 1 article. Roller26 (talk) 16:43, 8 October 2020 (UTC)

I can't find any rule that restricts an item of non-free content to only one article, and seem to think I have seen some that have been used in multiple places. As Roller26 writes, #7 certainly implies they can be used in more than one article. That said, though, #8, "Contextual significance. Non-free content is used only if its presence would significantly increase readers' understanding of the article topic, and its omission would be detrimental to that understanding." also applies here. This is an image of what the actual Arjuna Award looks like, so certainly significantly increases understanding of the Arjuna Award article; but for List of Arjuna Award recipients (1961–1969)? and List of Arjuna award recipients (2000–2009)? and so forth? I would argue not that much. Honestly, if someone were to only look at a List article, they are, presumably, interested in the names of the recipients for a specific decade, maybe the reasons each one won. Hence the name of the article. If they wanted to learn about the award itself, they would, presumably, go to the article about the award. So I think Yoninah has a good point here. I'd argue that for the "List" articles, the picture of the award itself is more decoration than "significantly increasing the understanding of the topic", because here the topic is the list of recipients, not the award itself. Nothing against decoration, I like decorating articles myself. But we can't use non-free content for that. --GRuban (talk) 18:14, 13 October 2020 (UTC)

I agree with your argument that picture of award does not "significantly increase the understanding of the topic" in the List articles. @Yoninah:, I will remove the award picture from all List articles and at-least in the later decade articles add people getting award photo available in Commons. Restoration of Monday Morning (newsletter) page

Hello, Roller26. This is regarding the speedy deletion of the page 'Monday Morning (newsletter)'. For your information, it is the official student media body of National Institute of Technology Rourkela and is the second-largest student media body in India. It has been in existence since 2006, with the Wiki page in existance since 2011. It has never had any issues before. Also, I expected a warning of some kind to be given before you proceed with deleting a page. On a different note, we are recognised by major news bodies like the Indian Express and Careers360. It is very widely recognised in Eastern India, especially in the state of Odisha. I kindly request you to restore the almost 10 year old page. But english wiki-page for Arhitectual Digest doesn`t contain the link on it`s russian department - http://prntscr.com/vozmn2. Both Glamour and Architectual Digest are Conde Nast

I wonder, why i can`t place the link this way? I do SEO for russian versions of Conde Nast magazines Glamour and Architectual Digest. And i want to get link from Wiki legally.

LarisaMusssss.94, as you seem to have a paid conflict of interest, I would advice to read WP:UPE and act accordingly. You are not suppose to directly edit the pages with which you have paid COI. Noting the issue of external link with Architectural Digest, the Russian edition is only mentioned and not thoroughly covered in the article to warrant its own external link. See WP:ELOFFICIAL for more detail. The Glamour article covers its international editions in more detail, however a case can be made for removing the many external links.
