Concerning Roman cities and rivers[edit]

Hi, Romanus. I received your note on my talk page concerning Aquileia. Firstly, though, I'd like to tell you that the administrative system works differently than you think. The notice I believe you saw was years ago, when I hoped to inspire editors to improve articles if they were reluctant, fearing a lack of available help. I only briefly assessed the article on behalf of WikiProject Cities; I am not an expert on the content. In any case, I'll see what I can do to help you. Based on the rest of the article (as well as a quick look at several references according to a quick search on Google), both rivers were called Natiso during the Roman era, but the one flowing through Aquileia was, later, renamed "Natissa". I think your suspicions were correct. I'll take a closer look, and I'll fix it if it needs to be changed. Thanks for the heads-up. --Starstriker7(Talk) 05:22, 13 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I checked Google Maps, and it appears that present-day Aquileia is still situated on a "Fiume Natissa", or the Natissa River. It looks like it isn't just ancient after all. Thank you for finding the source, though; I'll see if I can incorporate it into the Aquileia article. --Starstriker7(Talk) 16:49, 16 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
