Welcome![edit]

Hello, Rpsingleton1, and welcome to Wikipedia! My name is Adam and I work with the Wiki Education Foundation; I help support students who are editing as part of a class assignment.

I hope you enjoy editing here. If you haven't already done so, please check out the student training library, which introduces you to editing and Wikipedia's core principles. You may also want to check out the Teahouse, a community of Wikipedia editors dedicated to helping new users. Below are some resources to help you get started editing.

Howdy!

I'm brutally editing this user talk!

Of course, I'm excusing my conduct by maintaining the course requirements, but also for etiquette; this is MJ. :) — Preceding unsigned comment added by MindOfGMJ (talkcontribs) 19:01, 4 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Edit away, because I still don't feel like I know what I'm doing.

3-5 ideas for pages to edit My first idea of a page I'd like to edit came when I was looking into what Wikipedia had to say about Southern Gothic literature (There is no link because there is no Southern Gothic Literature page). What I found was simply Southern Gothic. It begins as a page about Southern Gothic literature, but moves into television shows, music, and movies. In spite of the fact it has more than simply literature, it also has very little information about the topic. I thought to update the page to include more information about Southern Gothic literature.

My second idea still revolves around Southern Gothic Literature. I'd like to create an article that is devoted solely to Southern Gothic Literature. I would like to include the Origins (where the term came from), History, Elements/Characteristics (even comparisons to American Gothic Literature), Development and evolution of the genre, authors, and works.

My third idea is to edit the Ceramic Art article. However, when I looked at the article, it seems extensive and thorough. I couldn't find anything to add to it. I attempted to look at specific types of ceramic arts, such as Raku firing, ceramic glaze, and Pottery. All of them were thoroughly covered in their respective articles. I still would like to look at these pages more closely, just to see if anything can be added. If my first two ideas fall flat, I will probably fall back on this idea. --Rpsingleton1 (talk) 00:06, 8 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Great! As I mentioned on one of my Tegrity recordings, if you wish to make two smaller edits to two articles (to equal 250 words), I would be okay with that. Are you getting used to the Wiki editor? Any questions? Mavcallens (talk) 21:45, 13 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The page already has links to particular author pages. However, some of them seem to suggest that because an author is Southern or from the South, they instantly get put into this genre. I disagree, as their writing should have the characteristics of Southern Gothic Literature. The page also seems to be missing Truman Capote and possibly other authors of the genre, so I plan to create a link to his Wikipedia article as well.
