RE:Marium -uz-zamani converted Islam[edit]

What are you talking about? If you are refering to this edit then it was to disambiguate: SambharSambhar, Rajasthan using Dab solver, and this is my only edit on the article Mariam-uz-Zamani. I think you have confused me with Chewings72 who reverted your edits.--Sayed Mohammad Faiz Haidertcs 11:35, 24 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

That's very good that you are "student of University of Oxford" and you are "going to take P.H.D about History". I don't have any issues whtsoever with your edits at article 'Marium uz zamani', and others who have expressed concerns have explicitly said why they have concern and how you can address their concern. If you belong to such high academic circles such as Oxford and are a PhD scholar then you must be aware that what you claim should be backed by verifiable, reliable, non-POV, third-party academic source(s); and Wikipedia is very clear about importance of citations especially about Biographies and that to of sensitive personalities like 'Marium uz zamani'. For me the name change itself is one of the proofs that she accepted Islam (in some form or other) and she was cremated as per Muslim rites, but, that said until I have Third-Party, RS, NPOV, verifiable academic sources to back my claim it will be considered as POV & OR and atleast it will be tacked such or it may be removed imediately as per WP policies. So my simple suggestion to you "when in Rome, do as the Romans do" i.e. if you want to edit Wikipedia you'll have to do as per WP guidelines. Thanks & happy editing! --Sayed Mohammad Faiz Haidertcs 06:13, 26 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks a lot for your efforts. The editors involved will look into the changes and will decide further course of action. As for me, although I'm interested in Mughal History of Indian Subcontinent, I seldomely edit WP articles related to them, and whenever I do edit these articles it is usually for some fixes e.g. disamb, etc I rarely chnage much content there. So, I still fail to understand why you are involving me into this debate as I'm one party. I have already told you baseline WP policies regarding content & citations, if you want any further help/guidance plz let me know I will be more than happy to do so but plz excuse me regarding content dispute as I'm already having lot on my plate and I'm barely able to attend my watchlist and do other tasks on my list. Thanks.--Sayed Mohammad Faiz Haidertcs 11:53, 26 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

No references cited[edit]

Hi. The edits you made in Mariam-uz-Zamani must be in good faith. But before adding any information please be sure where you are getting it from. A source needs to be cited for the information added in the article. Ananya 2012 (talk) 11:59, 25 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

As Ananya 2012 has already said to you earlier, you need to back up the edits you want to make to Mariam-uz-Zamani with evidence from a reliable source. Just changing words does not make something correct. If you really have information that states that Mariam-uz-Zamani converted to Islam, please include the source of this information. Thanks. --Chewings72 (talk) 03:23, 26 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
As I see the issue, Mariam-uz-Zamani seems to have been required to convert to Islam when she married Akbar. Yet it seems that Akbar allowed her to keep practising her Hindu faith. So, how should Mariam-uz-Zamani be regarded after her marriage to Akbar? Should she be considered to be a Muslim or a Hindu? Is there clear evidence that she voluntarily converted to Islam during her life living with Akbar? --Chewings72 (talk) 05:22, 26 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

References[edit]

Hi again. A blog can't be cited as a source. It is personal opinion. Also the blog cited is a dead link. Information can't be verified and hence, can't be used to edit a wiki article.Ananya 2012 (talk) 18:16, 26 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I have reverted your changes. Your changes refer to a personal blog - a well written and illustrated blog - but a personal blog nevertheless. The blog entry you have used has no references to reliable sources. So to meet Wikipedia standards I have removed your changes. Please don't try and put the changes in again unless you can provide reliable sources for your material. Thank you. --Chewings72 (talk) 01:40, 27 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Conversion to Islam and trip to Mecca[edit]

Hello. A personal blog is not a suitable reference for editing a article. The blog is definitely well-written but it is personal opinion. It cannot be relied upon blindly. Also, the blog entry has no references to reliable sources. Mariam-uz-Zamani is a historical figure. The information given presently in the article has been sourced from various authentic books and news articles from reputed media houses. Please don't disregard it in favour of a personal blog. There is no historical account mentioning her trip to Mecca. The websites cited by you are informative about the rules observed over there. But don't mention anything about Mariam-uz-Zamani being a Muslim or partaking a trip to the holy city. She owned ships carrying people to Mecca, that doesn't mean she actually went there or was a Muslim. Therefore, I saw it fit to remove your edits. Before editing the article again, please reply here or Mariam-uz-Zamani talk page. A continous reversion of the article is needless. A discussion is needed before adding this information. Edit warring[edit]

Stop icon

Your recent editing history at Mariam-uz-Zamani shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.

To avoid being blocked, instead of reverting please consider using the article's talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. See BRD for how this is done. You can post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.
