Copa Libertadores

League Champions of Argentina

Hi Salt: Thanks for the comment. I agree with your suggestion; my motivation in the discussion was to clarify the difference between "league titles" and "official championships" in Argentina. The original article didn't say "league" champions, that's why I added Gimnasia. Now it says "league champions" (which is what I suggested to do in my original comments), so I'm ok with that. However, there are three other 'official champions' in the AFA site (Atlanta, Boca, and Gimnasia), who won official though non-regular cups. Hi again! Regarding your question and the quote: Yes, in Argentina all teams are defined as "small/little" (equipos chicos="little teams") except for Boca, River, and San Lorenzo (from Buenos Aires) and Independiente & Racing (from Avellaneda, a suburban city just across La Boca). These are called "Los cinco grandes"=The Big Five. Many "equipos chicos" won championships in the amateur era, but starting 1931 the "Big Five" have monopolized them. So, it is true, Atlanta (one of the many "small teams" from Buenos Aires) was the first one to win an official cup aside from those five. Prior to Atlanta, the "equipo chico" that came closer to become a champion was Banfield in 1951 (a team known as El Taladro="The tree-boring beetle"), who actually tied with Racing. After 1968, it has been a little more common for other "small teams" to win a title. Some argue that the "Sixth Big" should be Velez or Rosario Central, but this is partly for the rather unsuccessful last 30 years of a "big one": Racing. I'll have a look at your section later today. Thanks for the notice. My principal reason was that it is common here that articles about history use "History of" format. Still I don't know if the definite article (the) should be used in this case. As for the double redirects, you are right. It is not so much that we have different views...the thing is that I usually talk to people trying to sort us in the same box when it simply can't happen for many reasons, nvm the fact that a lot of American editors try to "Europeanize" our pages...it is not that I am xenophobic. It is the fact that the confederations are way too different for one set of standards to be implemented on another. If we are going to do that, we might as well mix baseball with golf. Liverpool F.C. wiki

Hello, I am the lead sysop on the Liverpool F.C. wiki. It is a wiki dedicated solely to Liverpool F.C.. We aim to make the ultimate database for the club we all love. Since adopting the incredibly inactive wiki about a month ago we have greatly increased the article count and modernized it from it's previous state. The problem is there are not many active members on the site and we need more for the site to properly grow. It is well organized and on it's way to be a great site we just need more editors to expand. It is based on Wikia's network of wikis. Like Wikipedia it is free to use and the editing process is exactly the same. If you know how to edit Wikipedia you will know how to edit the Liverpool F.C. wiki. Now for the question you may be asking yourself. Why edit there? Wikipedia has articles on Liverpool. This is true. At the Liverpool wiki it is all about Liverpool. We allow editors to edit anything about Liverpool no matter how trivial. We allow edits on reserve and academy players, and even things as trivial as the fitness coaches for the year 2011. We also do not lock pages to registered users. That means if you have something to say about Steven Gerrard you can click edit and not view source and actually write something. Hi Salt, I saw that u were correcting/fixing my latest articles. Thanx 4 that. Wonder if you would like to help fixing a chinese article: BWA世界三顆星錦標賽. I'm taking care of carom billiards articles on WP:de, and if I have time on other WPs too. I was fixing the BWA and corresponding article Three-Cushion World Cup article on en/nl, because the statement, that this tournament series is a world championship is wrong. In the chinese article i saw the same table as on WP:en/nl. But I can't read chinese to tell right. If you like, you can check and fix it. Don't hesitate to ask me about unclear things. Yes, of course we can! And so I could also practice my broken German ;) But I am a bit confused about the Chinese article as it links to the German, English and Dutch article that are about Billiards World Cup Association, the organiser of the tournament. Maybe I can translate the Chinese article to you words by words and let you see whether it is acceptable.

The translation:

'The "BWA World Three-cushion Championship" instead use: Three-Cushion World Cup was a Three-cushion tournament organized by Billiards World Cup Association (BWA) since 1986. Starting from 2004 1999, since the BWA had financial difficulties unclear!?, it could not continue competing with the UMB UMB took over organizing it with the tournament No 87 (1999/4, after the founder Werner Bayer got sick. His last tournament was in Berlin 1999/3. so it ceased organizing the tournament.'

Hi Salt, that's exactly what I thought. There never was a "BWA World Three-cushion Championship"! It was and still is called "World Cup". I thought I made it clear in my english translation. I'm not sure why and how this mistake came up. But it made it through all articles. That's why I fixed it. During lack of organization or whatever the UMB (World association) didn't organize World championships from 1988-1991. Instead they give the title to the World cup champion. So in fact Torbjörn Blomdahl, Ludo Dielis and Raymond Ceulemans had both titles. compare tables here and here. But it's probably easier when we meet. I suggest that we meet at the german WP-Center. Sorry, but I have to say that I am totally confused. you're welcome :-) I knew that there was only a single tournament held by BWA during 1988-91. And the winner was regarded by UMB as the world champion. So, my question is, you mean this tournament held by BWA was and is called the "World Cup" instead of "BWA World Three-cushion Championship"? Yes, exactly! And my second question, then is it different to Three-Cushion World Cup? NO! If they are different, then which one is the world cup you keep talking about? And I don't understand what is wrong with the Chinese article. Can you tell me what would you amend in my above-translated version of the Chinese article? Invite to the African Destubathon

Hi. You may be interested in participating in the African Destubathon which starts on October 15. Africa currently has over 37,000 stubs and badly needs a quality improvement editathon/contest to flesh out basic stubs. There are proposed substantial prizes to give to editors who do the most articles, and planned smaller prizes for doing to most destubs for each of the 53 African countries, so should be enjoyable! So it would be a good chance to win something for improving stubs on African sportspeople, including footballers, athletes, Olympians and Paralympians etc, particularly female ones, but also male. Even if contests aren't your thing we would be grateful if you could consider destubbing a few African articles during the drive to help the cause and help reduce the massive 37,000 + stub count, of which many are rated high importance (think Regions of countries etc). If you're interested in competing or just loosely contributing a few expanded articles on African Paralympians, Olympians and committees etc, please add your name to the Contestants/participants section. Asian 10,000 Challenge invite

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Asia/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like South East Asia, Japan/China or India etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Asian content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon which has produced near 200 articles in just three days. If you would like to see this happening for Asia, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! After this message gets delivered, we'll wait for 7 days before we start a discussion under a thread on the collaboration's talk page, among the members. The discussion will include what to clean-up of sub-pages, a new set of guidelines for smooth and uninterrupted functioning of the collaboration etc. Please keep all the discussions under this thread only, so that it will easier for future reference. Supporting Indian Wikipedia Program resource distribution

In 2017 - 2018, the Wikimedia Foundation and Google working in close coordination with the Centre for Internet and Society (CIS), Wikimedia India chapter (WMIN) and user groups will pilot a program encouraging Wikipedia communities to create locally relevant and high-quality content in Indian languages. This program (Code name: Project Tiger) will:

(a) Support active and experienced Wikipedia editors through the donation of laptops and stipends for internet access and

(b) Sponsor a language-based contest that aims to address existing Wikipedia content gaps.

The objective of the program is to provide laptops and internet stipends for existing editors who need support to contribute more actively. 50 basic model Acer Chromebooks and Internet stipends for 100 contributors are available for distribution. Provided resources are the sole property of the beneficiaries and should be used for the betterment of the movement.

If you're an active Wikimedian, and interested to receive support from this project, please apply. It will take around 10 minutes of your time, and will ask descriptive questions about your contribution to Indic Wikimedia projects.

Project Tiger Writing Contest

In 2017 – 2018, the Wikimedia Foundation and Google working in close coordination with the Centre for Internet and Society (CIS), Wikimedia India Chapter (WMIN) and user groups from India, are piloting a program encouraging Wikipedia communities to create locally relevant and high-quality content in Indian languages. This program will (a) support active and experienced Wikipedia editors through the donation of laptops and stipends for internet access and (b) sponsor a language-based contest that aims to address existing Wikipedia content gaps.

Phase (a) has been completed, during which active contributors were awarded laptops and internet stipends. Phase (b) will be a contest in which editors will come together and develop a writing contest focused on content gaps. Each month three individual prizes will be awarded to each community based on their contribution for the month. The prizes worth 3,000 INR, 2000 INR, and 1,000 INR, will be awarded to the top contributors for each month. The contest started at March 1, 2018, 0:00, and will end at May 31, 2018, 23:59 (IST).
