Here is a place to post comments for CCC students like myself, as part of our assignment for WR 121.

Hello Sarah, it's Miranda from our writing 121 class. I hope I am posting in the correct spot, as I still am learning how to navigate and post in Wikipedia. I am eager to see how this week goes and what we learn on here. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mirandalgreen (talkcontribs) 16:33, 10 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Introduction[edit]

Hi Sarah! I'm Megan from Writing 121 Class. Bare with me as I learn to navigate this site and how to interact properly on it. Looking forward to getting the hang of it during this class. MeganA13 (talk) 06:25, 11 July 2018 (UTC) Same here, Megan! User:MeganA13|MeganA13[reply]

Notes[edit]

Hi! I have some notes for you for your article:

  • When adding to the article, make sure that you still have a lead section for the article per MOS:LEAD.
  • Make sure that the article is written in a neutral, encyclopedic style. Occasionally the writing is a little casual and persuasive, so make sure that you're careful of this.
  • Sourcing requirements for medicine and psychology related articles are more stringent than with other articles - this module goes over these, so I definitely suggest looking it over. Also, Wikipedia is not usable as a source, nor is Amazon. With Wikipedia, it's because all of the content is user submitted and can change at a whim. As it pertains to Amazon, it's because it's an e-commerce source - linking to these can be seen as an endorsement of Amazon and the book. On a side note, with any source make sure that it's the highest possible quality source - it shouldn't be self-published or released through a publisher/outlet that can't be verified as having a very strong, vigorous editorial process.

I hope this helps! Shalor (Wiki Ed) (talk) 15:17, 10 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the information, I had thought Amazon would be acceptable because it was linking to a specific book, would the aurthor's page still be considered biased, too? If so, how do I link the book?

I could not get the lead-top page; to stay above the contents unless I removed the picture, which I didn't want to do as a requirement of school. Could you tell me how to format this?

Thank you again. Sarahkimes (talk) 22:23, 10 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
