Information icon Hello, I'm Novo Tape. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Car boot sale, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Sincerely, Novo Tape (She/Her)My Talk Page 22:17, 18 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

hi I am not sure how to confirm it is a reliable source when I am the source. I am Barry Peveretts daughter and attended the first boot fair. Could you give me some advice?
Thanks Sashak8 (talk) 18:59, 22 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
A source is a publicly available material on a topic, typically a video, website, newspaper, magazine, journal, or book. The definition of reliability is a little bit harder to quantify, but it generally means that the material was published with some kind of editorial oversight. Wikipedia requires that every claim should be verifiable from a reliable source.
In your case, I'd recommend searching for a newspaper clipping or news article concerning the 1980 Nepicar Farm sale that states how it was the first, or one of the first, of its kind, at least in the UK. Alternatively, an interview with your father published through a news agency would work. Questions about the reliability of any individual source may be asked at WP:RS/N and the page also has extensive archives of discussions. If you have any further questions, I'd recommend using the teahouse or the help desk since you'll get a more prompt response, likely from someone more knowledgeable than I am. However, feel free to ask me about any clarification or help you need. Sincerely, Novo Tape (She/Her)My Talk Page 15:57, 23 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
apologies for bothering you. I have found a source, Sevenoaks Chronicle
27 Sep 1980, Sat · Page 1 but don't know how to add it Sashak8 (talk) 23:47, 23 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
To add it, I'd recommend following the advice found at this page. Looking through the article's history, it looks as though you cited the information correctly. If you wish to edit pages in the future, I'd strongly recommend using the visual editor since it is extremely simple to use and makes citing sources less difficult. Also, there's no need to apologize for asking for help. It's no bother at all. Sincerely, Novo Tape (She/Her)My Talk Page 16:14, 24 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
