A tag has been placed on Overdrive band requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for musical topics. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 21:21, 26 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I marked it for speedy deletion because there is nothing provided for which we can verify independently that this band meets notability standards. No charted songs, no recognized record label, no references from Independent sources. - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 21:46, 26 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You can place a Facebook link for a band under "External Links," but it does not count as an independent, reliable source. - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 22:39, 26 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Speedy deletion declined as the article indicates it has recorded under a national record label. However, I had to rewrite the entire article to address copyright issues. Copying text verbatim from other web pages is not allowed unless the other web page clearly indicates the text is released under a Wikipedia-compatible license. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs)/(e-mail) 01:31, 27 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Also bear in mind that just because an article is not speedy deleted does not mean it may not be deleted later under a formal article for deletion discussion. - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 01:35, 27 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Overdrive discography requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a musical recording which does not indicate why its subject is important or significant, and where the artist's article has never existed, has been deleted or is eligible for deletion itself. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for music.

Conflict of interest[edit]

If you are creating these articles for your friends, then you are violating Wikipedia policies against conflicts of interest and promotional articles. Continued violation of these policies may result in your privilege of editing Wikipedia being blocked. I strongly advise you to read this page to see what constitutes a band being notable enough for its own Wikipedia article. As for other bands having similar articles, realize first that this argument is not valid to support keeping an article (see this link). The other articles are either about bands which are notable, or which have simply escaped our attention so far. - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 22:56, 26 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The EXIT Festival by itself is not enough. PGP-RTS is considered a major label (at least notable enough to have its own article (click here), but you haven't given us independent resources to prove what you say is true, for the label or anything else. You need to find references from independent, reliable sources to show that others who have no connection to that band recognize its notability. 23:39, 26 November 2009 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Realkyhick (talkcontribs) 23:39, 26 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The album cover scan won't work because it is too easy to alter the graphics to add something that wasn't originally there. The YouTube is not much use to English Wikipedia because it is not in English. - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 23:57, 26 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I like to go with "when in doubt, don't speedy" - the claim of a national album is credible in the overall context, especially considering "why would they lie about something they would likely be caught at on another web site." I declined the speedy. If you think this is a hoax, then by all means send it to AFD, or if it's a blatant hoax, speedy-tag it. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs)/(e-mail) 01:34, 27 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Overdrive.jpg[edit]

If you took this yourself, consider uploading it to the Wikimedia Commons. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs)/(e-mail) 13:04, 28 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have nominated Overdrive (band), an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Overdrive (band). Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Please contact me if you're unsure why you received this message. - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 01:01, 16 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The discussion has now moved to a formal article for deletion discussion. Please discuss the article there. - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 16:17, 16 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
