Welcome![edit]

Hello, Scoay, and welcome to Wikipedia! My name is Shalor and I work with the Wiki Education Foundation; I help support students who are editing as part of a class assignment.

I hope you enjoy editing here. If you haven't already done so, please check out the student training library, which introduces you to editing and Wikipedia's core principles. You may also want to check out the Teahouse, a community of Wikipedia editors dedicated to helping new users. Below are some resources to help you get started editing.

Help me![edit]

Please help me with... Reviewing my article to see if it is properly executed. Scoay (talk) 02:07, 14 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Can I assume you're referring to User:Scoay/sandbox?
I don't want to get in between you and your instructor or facilitator, but I'll tell you that there are some things you've executed properly and some things that still need to be improved. Let me just focus on references.
  • When you are citing something that you found via a research database, it's important to cite the original article and not give a URL that's tied to your login credentials - that sort of URL will work for nobody else and may not work for you the next time you try to get there. Sometimes it's not possible to find a URL that will work for everyone, so it can be okay to give a URL that requires a subscription or registration. But it can't be one that works only for you.
  • punctuation should appear before the <ref> tag, not after the </ref> tag.
  • I usuall invoke my references using {{reflist}} rather than <references />, but that may just be a matter of taste.
  • After your references, it looks like you are trying to add additional sources. Those should appear under their own heading as {{cite}} citations without ref tags. That should avoid some of the oddities that you're seeing.
It looks like you've made a good start on Wikipedia editing. Keep up the good work and diligence. — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 05:29, 14 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
