Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You may also click on the signature button

Categories
Thank you for asking me about categories. There does not seem to be any list of categories, but each task force in Wikipedia (see Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Guide/Task forces) seems to have a set of rules as to what categories an article should have. Nevertheless, these rules do not seem to be set in stone. It is possible, though, to search through categories by ticking the namespace category on the advanced search page [1]
On the other hand, biographies always have the year of birth and death as categories, and where the person comes from (sometimes one category related to where the person was born, and one for the place with which a person is most associated), and normally one or more categories associated with what they are notable for. In addition, there is often a category associated with the cause of death. See Wikipedia:Categorization of people. For publications, railways, railway stations, buildings, settlements, schools etc., there is usually at least one category connected with the location, and often a category with the start and end year. There may or may not be further categories connected with the type. See Wikipedia:Categorization. I accumulated my knowledge on categories by looking at articles about similar people or things, and by browsing through the categories.
