ANI

You might not see that distintion, but others will. It is in your own best interest to stop calling it a death threat. If you don't, then you change the focus of the discussion from Marine 69-71's conduct, to whether there's a difference between a death wish and death threat, just like Hans changed the focus of the discussion from Marine 69-71's conduct to the Vietnam War. A Quest For Knowledge (talk) 23:04, 7 July 2011 (UTC)

I understand your point, but where I sit it read like a death threat. A juvenile one, a cowardly one, but a threat nevertheless. You might feel the same if you saw your user name referenced on a tombstone by an editor who glories in his violent history and "tough guy" shtick. ScottyBerg (talk) 23:07, 7 July 2011 (UTC)
Scotty, was the tombstone issue resolved? Viriditas (talk) 06:10, 8 July 2011 (UTC)
Scotty, I agree with much of your observations on Marine 69-71s conduct. I believe there had been previous complaints of him trying to own articles, but I don't remember where I heard about it. I was disappointed with his attitude at the Irish immgrants to Puerto Rico article. I'm willing to co-certify an RfC with you, but I don't have time to help find diffs. Cla68 (talk) 06:59, 8 July 2011 (UTC)
I left a note on his talk page. How about giving him one more chance? You have the ANI thread as evidence of attempted dispute resolution if there are any further issues. Cla68 (talk) 07:36, 8 July 2011 (UTC)
Thanks, but had his responses in the ANI been even slightly satisfactory, we wouldn't be having this discussion. Viriditas - no, the tombstone issue was not resolved. ScottyBerg (talk) 13:02, 8 July 2011 (UTC)
Hello, ScottyBerg. You have new messages at Doug's talk page.

...and IMHO, you've now begun the process of shooting yourself in the foot. You're chasing him now like a terrier on a rat, and that's a bit too far. Reposting Jimbo's complete quote was unnecessary, and he actually does not have the final say in anything. Back off now, because you've probably already done enough damage your complaint. I think he made a useful suggestion. I see no harm in reposting his message. If reposting his message means that it makes Marine more like to remain administrator if the founder of Wikipedia believes he shouldn't be one, then I'll live with that bizarre consequence.
