An article you recently created, Whitney Ranch Historic District, is not suitable as written to remain published. It did not appear to have any content other than the images. I've moved your article to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you've written a bit about it and it is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Or, if you are autoconfirmed, you can use the Twinkle tool to move it back to article space. Thanks, Helen (let’s talk) 01:21, 2 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Recent edit reversion[edit]

In this edit here, I reverted some information that appears to be a violation of our copyright policy.

I provided a brief summary of the problem in the edit summary, which should be visible just below my name. You can also click on the "view history" tab in the article to see the recent history of the article. This should be an edit with my name, and a parenthetical comment explaining why your edit was reverted. If that information is not sufficient to explain the situation, please ask.

I do occasionally make mistakes. We get hundreds of reports of potential copyright violations every week, and sometimes there are false positives, for a variety of reasons. (Perhaps the material was moved from another Wikipedia article, or the material was properly licensed but the license information was not obvious, or the material is in the public domain but I didn't realize it was public domain, and there can be other situations generating a report to our Copy Patrol tool that turn out not to be actual copyright violations.) If you think my edit was mistaken, please politely let me know and I will investigate. S Philbrick(Talk) 11:39, 2 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Deeble Rock Garden, requesting that it be deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under two or more of the criteria for speedy deletion, by which pages can be deleted at any time, without discussion. If the page meets any of these strictly-defined criteria, then it may soon be deleted by an administrator. The reasons it has been tagged are:

  • It is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. (See section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.
  • It is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, a rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. (See section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) Wikipedia has standards for the minimum necessary information to be included in short articles; you can see these at Wikipedia:Stub. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Copyright kitten for you![edit]

You are warmly welcomed by many who haven't realized it or haven't said it yet. Let's eliminate these deletion contests, either by learning how to properly format the copyright statements, or by getting free alternative photos for copyright-forbidden photos. Don't be too discouraged, because everyone knows you're a good faith contributor and an original photographer who's putting serious miles on the road. A lot of that is through my home territory. Some people are only focused on rightfully protecting the Wikimedia organization due to strict national laws, and there is often another unmentioned procedure to change a "no" to a "yes". As for the articles you've created and have been deleted, I might be willing to do the research that you might not know how to do, to get them recreated, just out of pure charity for a newbie, if those subjects are dear to you. That is, if you're already sure they pass notability requirements of WP:N, by having several WP:RS reliable sources available. I can look up most newspapers back to the 1800s on newspapers.com. I wouldn't offer this to everyone, because a lot of newbies are just stubbornly ignorant and self-entitled, and they take offense when people try to help them not break the law or break encyclopedic policy. But you seem really nice, genuine, and adaptive to learning—and you seem like a serious traveling photographer who is dedicated to the good of the public within the rules of this free community project.
