April 2012[edit]

This account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia because your username, Calderysfrance, does not meet our username policy.

Your username is the only reason for this block. You are welcome to choose a new username (see below).

A username should not be promotional, related to a "real-world" group or organization, misleading, offensive, or disruptive. Also, usernames may not end in the word "bot" unless the account is an approved bot account

You are encouraged to choose a new account name that meets our policy guidelines. Alternatively, if you have already made edits and you wish to keep your existing contributions under a new name, then you may request a change in username by:

  1. Adding {{unblock-un|Shobhitindia}} on your user talk page. You should be able to do this even though you are blocked, as you can usually still edit your own talk page. If not, you may wish to contact the blocking administrator by clicking on "E-mail this user" on their talk page.
  2. At an administrator's discretion, you may be unblocked for 24 hours to file a request.
  3. Please note that you may only request a name that is not already in use, so please check here for a listing of already taken names. The account is created upon acceptance, thus do not try to create the new account before making the request for a name change. For more information, please see Wikipedia:Changing username.
If you feel that you were blocked in error, you may appeal this block by adding below this notice the text {{unblock|Your reason here}}, but you should read our guide to appealing blocks first. Qwyrxian (talk) 13:24, 20 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Also, please note that while I have only soft-blocked you (meaning you can just choose a new name), you do need to be extremely careful about editing that article. Wikipedia discouraged people who have a conflict of interest from editing articles directly; details can be found at WP:COI. I looked at your additions to that article, and they didn't seem overly promotional, but they were on the borderline. It will probably be better if you don't edit that article directly, and instead suggest changes on the article's talk page. Qwyrxian (talk) 13:26, 20 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
This user's request to be unblocked to request a change in username has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without a good reason (see the blocking policy). Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Decline reason:

Declined due to lack of response to my questions below. Max Semenik (talk) 21:00, 21 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Here are a few key questions:

You are currently blocked because your username appears directly related to a company, group or product that you have been promoting, contrary to the username policy. Changing the username will not allow you to violate the 3 important principles above. Max Semenik (talk) 14:53, 20 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Calderysfrance, I see you tried another name, but it's not the name that's a problem; it's whether or not you understand and agree to what MaxSem said above. Qwyrxian (talk) 10:03, 23 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Re your email: just answer my questions publicly. Max Semenik (talk) 16:45, 25 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry I took a while to reply, Calderysfrance. The key is not just changing your username, but also acknowledging the points that MaxSem brought up and agreeing to abide by them. Please post that information here (below--don't edit the info above), rather than by email. Qwyrxian (talk) 23:18, 25 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Blocled username[edit]

To start with, this is the mail I sent to Qwyrxian and MaxSem coz I was not able to write to them on them on their talk page: First of all I’m sorry for unknowingly promoting the company by using the similar username. I accept that I knew nothing about editing Wikipedia before all this happened. Secondly, after you blocked me I did not know how to contact you because I didnt registered my email. So, I was doing things with the username that I shouldnt have done. I apologise for that. So, after reading more about it I registered the email and now I can thankfully see the link "email this user"!As you will see I have changed the username to my real name.

This user's request to be unblocked to request a change in username has been reviewed by an administrator, who accepted the request.

Accept reason:

Allowing username change to requested username. Please put this request in at Wikipedia:Changing username as soon as possible to avoid re-blocking. Max Semenik (talk) 15:09, 26 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

If you find this fine, then I would request you to please unblock me if not then please let me know what else should I do.

I guess I have answered MaxSem's questions but since these questions are specifically asked here, So, here are my replies for them: Do you understand that Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, and not a business directory? Yes I know that its an encyclopedia, but as I mentioned above it happend unknowingly, I just took the username that I could remember easily. It didnt even click me at the slightest that I'm promoting the company. Do you understand conflict of interest? Yes Do you understand that to be considered for an encyclopedia article, the subject must be notable? Yes

The concern is not the promotion with your username: it's the edits you made to the article. They were overly promotional, went into far too much detail, etc. The name you've chosen is fine, but we want to make sure you won't be making those types of edits again. Reply[edit]

Hi Qwyrxian, First of all, I had no intention for promotional editing, that is why I was even seeking help from frequent editors. User Acather96, I found this user on active editor list, I contacted him but he told me to go peer review section. Before I could go there you blocked me. You can see my messages on his talk page. If I were to promote an article then why would I ask active editors or peer reviewers to help me in editing.

But still I say it was my mistake because I was the first to edit it. And still if you can't understand that then, I'm sorry, I dont know how to explain to you.

Thanks, that's clear enough for me. I will check with the other admin, but I'm happy for you to be unblocked and your name changed (a special type of admin has to do that for technical reasons). Probably the best thing moving forward then is, as you say above, to ask for help. I especially recommend that you ask before editing the page on Calderys. I would be happy to assist you in this process. Once the unblock goes through, we can figure out how to do that together. Qwyrxian (talk) 12:13, 26 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
If it's fine by you the blocker, it's also fine by me. Unblocked. Max Semenik (talk) 15:09, 26 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Name change[edit]

sorry to make you jump through hoops, but now that you're unblocked, can you go to WP:CHUS and request a name change there? There's good instructions; if you can't do it, let me know and I'll try to assist, but I'm out for a while and it may take me time. Qwyrxian (talk) 03:31, 27 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

thanks, I have made the request for username change, I hope everything goes smoothly
