Re:yitzchak kaduri

I wasn't sure why you blanked the page, that's why I reverted you. What would you like to do with the page? --Nick123 (t/c) 23:09, 4 February 2006 (UTC)

The user yoninah moved the page Kaduri (and talk) to Kadouri by himself without the proper 'democratic' wikipedia process. The current content is okay, but the talk page should be moved back to Kaduri from Kadouri. I would like to move the Kadouri talk back as well.

--Shuki 23:19, 4 February 2006 (UTC)

I'm here responding to your help request. The pages Kaduri and Kadouri don't exist, are they the correct pages I should be looking at?--Commander Keane 00:50, 5 February 2006 (UTC)
sorry, Yitzchak Kaduri was moved to Yitzchak Kadouri and I would like to move it back to Yitzchak Kaduri and keep all the history as well as the talk page in order for proper voting to be carried out.

Thanks --Shuki 00:54, 5 February 2006 (UTC)

It's OK, I figured out you were talking about Yitzchak Kadouri. It would have been better for Yoninah to discuss the move first, but instead of reverting the hcange, why not discuss it at Talk:Yitzchak Kadouri and see if the reversion is neccesessary Maybe the new situation is better.--Commander Keane 00:56, 5 February 2006 (UTC)

argh! a voice of reason? :-) Okay, could you please totally revert my changes I've made on the Yitzchak Kaduri and Talk:Yitzchak Kaduri pages back to the yoninah redirect? Thanks.--Shuki 01:01, 5 February 2006 (UTC)

Okay, I have reverted your changes to Yitzchak Kaduri and Talk:Yitzchak Kaduri. You should know that to properly perform a move there is a "Move" button, WP:MOVE has more info.--Commander Keane 01:14, 5 February 2006 (UTC)

Thanks, I know but reacted too quickly. Thanks again.--Shuki 01:23, 5 February 2006 (UTC)

wikipedia member abuse

Kindly refrain from suing your administrator position to force your POV on articles, and defame other editors, whose NPOV may happen to conflict with your one-sided statements. Just because somebody believes something and repeatedly places it on wikipedia does not make it so. The way you respond to this request will show whether you are interested in making wikipedia educational and neutral, or whether you are simply out to spread propaganda.......John Miller

geo-stubs

Hi, I had removed the israel-geo-stub from various Israel geography articles... What do you think? I think youve just made a lot of work for whoever has to put them back again :( this was all discussed when the stub was made. israel-geo-stub is for anything that is likely to be edited by an editor who knows about israels geography - including west bank settlements. thats why we never used a map on the template. dont know who changed it to a map but it was a dumb idea and didnt go through WP:WSS like it was supposed to. i see its got the flag back now the way its supposed to have. its also the reason we dont use maps for countries like india and pakistan. it just starts edit wars of the template and doing that can cause server problems. Re: Noblesse

I cannot provide such a source, the information comes from my own knowledge. All IDF bases containing prisoners (typically military police bases) have a certain amount of Noblesse to hand out because prisoners have the right to 10 free cigarettes on Friday and Saturday each (days in which they can't buy with their canteen money) [1]. At these bases, non-prisoners (especially prisoner commanders) can typically also acquire free Noblesse. Maybe I made it sound like it was a completely free handout 24/7 in the way that Bakum razor blades or toilet paper are given away (you only have to ask), but still, not everyone in the army has to buy Noblesse.

The only written source I know of that has this information is the prison commander study book, which I used myself on my course (I'm a prison commander; don't smoke though). This is an army booklet with no ISBN so it would be a little difficult in terms of verifyability.

Merge Request

Shuki, you wrote on my talk page that you wanted my opinion on two merges. Why is that? Was there any question that two articles on the same thing (like "Bezalel Academy" and "Bezalel Academy on art") should be merged? What sort of opinion can I have on the subject other than "Yes, please do it"? :-) Anyway, I see that somebody already did the merge (?). Nyh 09:15, 2 March 2006 (UTC)

I agree; that is, the merges are clearly neccessary, and have already been done; thanks for the heads up, though! СПУТНИКССС Р 22:05, 2 March 2006 (UTC)

Re: thank you

No problem, I think the barnstar was well-deserved. Unlike me who created some stubs (and expanded others) on Israeli localities, you actually write full articles. You might want to take a look at this for more localities that you may want to write about :) also if you find any errors, especially in the English spelling of the towns, please tell me. I've already fixed one since the last version (Kdima -> Kadima).

Re:capitalizations

I've actually thought about this for a while, because it had to be changed (in the article, the phrase was capitalized, or not, at random, e.g.: Government recognizes blah blah Cities, Regional Councils but then: There are 54 regional councils). To decide whether to use lowercare or uppercase, I searched Google, and got mixed results (it was always capitalized as a proper name, as you said, but outside those instances, both uppercase and lowercase were used in different websites). I decided on uppercase in the end, because it seemed like a special term. Maybe it should be lowercase instead. But then you will also need to move List of Regional Councils in Israel to List of regional councils in Israel. -- Y Ynhockey || Talk Y 21:04, 7 March 2006 (UTC)

Nof Zion

Hi there... can you do me a favor? On the Nof Zion billboard, can you translate the Hebrew on the sign for me? Thanks... Lokiloki 23:12, 18 March 2006 (UTC)

No problem, I'll add it to the image discussion page shortly. --Shuki 23:22, 18 March 2006 (UTC)

Re: Changes

Actually, West Bank region of Samaria is correct, although I understand why it may cause confusion. However, Samarian region of the West Bank is completely odd-sounding and probably grammatically incorrect (HaEzor haShomroni shel haGada haMa'aravit ???). Maybe think of another wording?

As for the other change, there is a consensus on Wikipedia:Naming conventions (Hebrew) that Het should be spelled with an H. That is unless the word/name in question already has a common English spelling (e.g. Chaim, Palmach). You can see the talk of that page for more info, but you probably don't want to read it (very long and most of what's said there is only an opinion which never went into the consensus).

Highway 6

Hi, I just read your changes to Highway 6, an article I will copyedit now. However, there is something I don't understand (and don't know since I've never driven on Highway 6):

Each segment is not directly related to the road span between two interchanges, and the highway has been divided up otherwise.

This sentence doesn't tell the reader what segments are, and contradicts what is said on the website itself (in the FAQ):

כל קטע בכביש תחום בין שני מחלפים (למעט קטע נשרים - בן שמן הכולל את יציאת דניאל.

Please clarify this, and meanwhile I'll copyedit the rest.

-- Y Ynhockey (Talk) Y 15:26, 21 March 2006 (UTC)

למעט קטע נשרים - בן שמן הכולל את יציאת דניאל - There's one exception. If you're already editing, it should also be added that motorcycles and trucks pay differently, and that the distance/length of each segment is not similar. --Shuki 16:40, 21 March 2006 (UTC)

Would it be possible to revert/rollback all vandalism by 67.165.25.134 on Hanaton from March 16 to present? Perhaps 'revert' is not the right term since the vandalism has been essentially reverted, but would it be possible to remove the record of these changes enitrely? They are quite vile. Thanks --Shuki 22:38, 27 March 2006 (UTC)

I see the total amount of change by 67.165.25.134 as this. Since the vandalism has been reverted I don't see much point in removing the edits from the history (and the history is rarely altered). Although an admin can hide the edits from the history, that would only be done to hide personal information at request.--Commander Keane 22:47, 27 March 2006 (UTC)

haKotel or Hakotel?

I saw your edit to Rabbi Mordechai Elon; you modified haKotel to Hakotel. I'm not really sure which is more correct, but the situation does bear some resemblance to Mercaz haRav. Any suggestions before I start translating he:ישיבת הכותל? Ayinyud 19:04, 4 April 2006 (UTC)

I saw the haRav and wanted to change as well. I would go with Hakotel. Goto their website and see how they refer to themselves. I believe that there is no official wp consensus, but that since this is the english wiki, then the spelling and case of letters should reflect that. See more here:Wikipedia:Naming conventions (Hebrew). Rishon Lezion seems more 'english' than Rishon LeZion. I suppose that one of the more experienced editors should be asked (IZAK, Ynhockey, jnhotman, etc...) --Shuki 19:16, 4 April 2006 (UTC)

Papallacta Edit

1. Why was the post labeled a stub by you? It is a small village with not much more. 2. Why did you reformat the links? I wanted to seperate the commercial from the photo links.

Supersean 00:14, 7 April 2006 (UTC)

1) The article is not categorized. All articles should be in at least one category. The article was small, new, and still missing some essential information like what the name means, and at least a brief history of the place. I placed the stub so that perhaps some one interested in Ecuador geography checking out stubs could expand it. If you claim that there's nothing else to add, please attach any relevant categories.
2) I believe that the standard format for external links is that one section. I'm not an expert, but making multiple sections of links doesn't seem to be common. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Reverts of rabbis categories

Hi Shuki: Please do not "sort" or change the new category names in Category:Orthodox rabbis. They are well thought out. Please discuss with me BEFORE you make any further changes. Thank you. IZAK 07:57, 5 May 2006 (UTC)

See full explantion @

Hi Shuki: Please see the full explanation (or as much as I can say it right now) at Category talk:Orthodox rabbis#More precise system based on recognized names Thanks for your PATIENCE and understanding. Shabbat Shalom. IZAK 08:16, 5 May 2006 (UTC)

Do NOT use the word "Ultra-Orthodox"

Shuki: You are messing everying up. It has long been Wikipedia POLICY among editors NOT to use the word "Ultra-Orthodox" EVER !!! The correct word is Haredi Judaism or Haredi in short. That is why I have used those words in the new categories. You are duplicating things in any case by using the words "Ultra-Orthodox". It is considered to be highly offensive and insulting. Please stop your changes now. I will revert all of them and they will be deleted in any case. Thank you. IZAK 08:03, 5 May 2006 (UTC)

Thank you for your sincerity. --Shuki 12:25, 5 May 2006 (UTC)

Rabbi Elchonon Wasserman

Hi Shuki, thanks for your concern about the Rabbi Elchonon Wasserman title - but keep calm, it's all under control. Before you even arrived arrived at the scene, I left a message on IZAK's talk page (he's an admin) to move the article. PS: How did you get to the Elchonon Wasserman article so fast? I only found it half by accident! Many thanks, Nesher 22:37, 17 May 2006 (UTC)

With God's help - (bsyata dismaya) I suppose? My wife's looking for a bracha/sgula that was once sent to her, something against lashon hara from, or in the spirit of, Chafetz Chaim. --Shuki 22:42, 17 May 2006 (UTC)

  • P.S. all: I am not an admin (and I have never aspired to be one), I just like to be helpful. Miron

Hi, thanks. I suppose Miron should be merged into Meron (Israel) anyway, since the latter is the far more common spelling in the English world. I looked for 'Meron' before I started that article and didn't find anything, so I created a new article but I named it 'Miron', since I think 'Miron' is closer to the real pronunciation than 'Meron'. --Daniel575 02:38, 19 May 2006 (UTC)

I started a stub at Israel Union for Environmental Defense, and I'd like to request your help to expand it. I don't read Hebrew, but I was wondering if there might be a more complete article in the Hebrew Wikipedia for the Israel Union for Environmental Defense (IUED), which is known in Hebrew as Adam Teva V'Din, that could be used as a basis for expanding the English article. I'm sending this message to you because you made some improvements to another article, Susan Jill Warchaizer, which deals with someone who was on the advisory board to the Israel Union for Environmental Defense. New Category:Sephardic Orthodox rabbis

Hi Shuki, you'll be pleased to know that I've created a new, objective category - Sephardic Orthodox rabbis. Unlike many other recently created categories that have been bitterly disputed, this category doesn't rank Rabbonim by how Frum they are or their political beliefs. In short, it's absolutely impossible to argue why any of the Rabbis have been placed in it - because of course they're all Sephardi. I hope you like it and that this simplifies matters. Levi Bimkom Kohen

Acknowledging that the Kitzur shulchan Aruch doesn't require a Levi Bimkom Kohen if a Kohen is not present, it is nonetheless a widespread custom to do so, and also not ot call a Levi for anything else. --Shirahadasha 01:57, 26 June 2006 (UTC)

Lately, I've been discovering that 'widespread' customs are otherwise an outcome of widespread ignorance. You are right nonetheless, while I can't say that 'most' use this custom, it could definitely be said that 'many' do continue to follow it. --Shuki 05:18, 26 June 2006 (UTC)

Re:Roads in Israel

The issue is not whether it should be named Highways in Israel or Roads in Israel, it's whether we need 2 separate categories. Clearly we do not, there aren't even that many notable roads in Israel, and there is no precent for 2 separate categories. That is why I merged the categories into one. If you feel Roads in Israel is a more appropriate name for the new (merged) category, propose it on CfD (a move proposal). It will certainly be approved. -- Ynhockey (Talk) 11:21, 13 July 2006 (UTC)

First off, category should be renamed to Israeli record labels. Second, it seems to now be the home to five WP:NN companies. --Shuki 10:21, 9 July 2006 (UTC)

Serbia Telecoms

Can you please explain to me whats the use of "Mobile phone companies of Serbia" which now has only 1 article (and in the future it will have at most 2). Also, you made "Telecommunications companies of Serbia" which now has NO articles (only the aforementioned subcategory) and in the future it will have at most 1 article. Serbia doesnt have private Telecoms, and has only 1 private cellphone operater. I really dont think two categories are needed for 1 existign and 2 not existing articles. The Bible ...

This edit summary worries me. Please keep in mind WP:NPOV ... just because the Bible says something does not mean that it is de facto true; it must still be backed up by facts. We are writing from a neutral, non-doctrinal POV, not a Christian POV. --Cyde Weys 21:46, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

Kfar Giladi

Hi Shuki,

The reason that there was extended detail on the Kfar Giladi page was because it was linked to the Main Page in the context of the attack, and there is no where else at the moment where the details can be conveyed. Perhaps there should be an article on the attack, as every major death of Lebanese has so far also warranted such pages. Perhaps when the dust settles they will all be reduced/merged, but at the moment the smaller details still seem to have great relevance. Let me know what you think, TewfikTalk 17:03, 9 August 2006 (UTC)
