RFA Question[edit]

Hi, I noticed one of your questions at Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/Arbitrarily0, Q5, seems a bit oddly worded. "You come across a article ready for deletion. The amount of people in favor of keeping the article and people in favor of deleting the article is equal. What do you do?" Why is the article "ready for deletion" if you're asking Arbitrarily what they would do? Might you consider changing the wording slightly? I would recommend: "You come across an article at WP:AFD. Re:that one article whose name I don't remember even though I just tagged it[edit]

Hi, and welcome to Wikipedia! Nice to see a new user here.

In answer to your question, you're fine. I wouldn't tag it for CSD G1, only because it doesn't fit exactly. With this article, you can tell that "XXX is a mexican actor married to YYY." That's easy enough. I consider CSD G1 criteria for situations such as when you have an article entitled "Chocolate is delicious" and the content is "I like blue M&Ms more than red ones."

But in this article, I don't consider the subject notable just because members of their family are notable. There would have to be other reasons, too. Otherwise the most the article could become would have to relate to their notable family member. I probably should have tagged it for CSD A7 instead, actually. My mistake.

Anyway, to summarize: you didn't do anything wrong, and you're not in trouble. The criteria under which you tagged the article wasn't perfect, but it worked enough and people make mistakes like that all the time (myself included). The article has been deleted anyway. You seem like a nice person, and it looks like you're off to a good start on Wikipedia. If you have any questions or need any help, just ask me. Oh, and if you're interested in the CSD/AFD area, you might like using Twinkle. It's a bit complex when you first use it, but the ability to automatically tag articles, start and format AFDs, warn users, and report vandals just by clicking a button can be really efficient. It isn't uncommon for someone to do that. It is actually a test to see whether the candidate totally copies the page or not when it's right in front of him or if he truly knows it. Well, welcome to Wikipedia. I am not completely sure if it meets it, however if you want to try it, put {{db-song}} on the top of the article to tag it for an A9 speedy deletion. Make sure to let the author of the article know about it by using the notification code attached to the template on their talk page. That's really it. Unfortunately, there is no real "number". It's a judgement call. If the discussion is getting long enough that it is disrupting the readability of the rest of the comments, then it should be moved to the talk page. Just Out, COTW does well in new decade[edit]

Howdy WikiProject Oregon folks, time again for the latest installment of As the Collaboration Of The Week Turns. Last week was one of the more successful COTWs in recent memory as we really worked hard as a community to improve Concordia University and Berry Botanic Garden. Both are now at least C class articles and nicely illustrated (thanks to Tedder, Finetooth, and Ipoellet). Plus it really was a group effort as we had five different WPORE editors work on the garden and ditto with the school, with some overlap between the two.

Not surprisingly I've been looking over a number of editors' RfA criteria, and yours struck a chord with me. CSD might be one of the trickiest areas for an admin to work in, because you'd darn well better know those criteria cold or you could really bollix things up. Who do you most respect for his or her work in CSD? Regardless of how my RfA turns out I believe it's an area that one can never know enough about. I am sorry to say that I do not respect any specific user for any certain topic yet given that I have only been here for about three months; I can certainly understand your position however... CSD is a very weird subject. All I need from RfA candidates stating in question 1 that they are intending to work in CSD is very few "mistaggings" (never repeatedly) and the notification to the author.
