Proposed changes[edit]

Hello SuperSardus, you can change the wording at Declaration from the representatives of Catalonia but you should avoid using the word majority as it must be clear that since it was signed outside of the plenary session the number of people signing it does not have any legal relevance. --Crystallizedcarbon (talk) 19:02, 17 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I've tagged this article with WP:CSD#A10. Wikipedia is not a newspaper and we should just wait until we are absolutely and categorically sure what the constitutional status of Catalonia is - not least since this would be the first major boundary change in Western Europe since either World War II or German Reunification. For the minute, definitive information we believe to be historically accurate can go in the main Catalonia article. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 14:42, 27 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. The "republic of Catalonia" has been declared four times before; none of those declarations were successful, yet there are articles about each one of them. For these reasons I believe my article is legitimate. SuperSardus (talk) 15:05, 27 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

SuperSardus is right. Wikipedia is not a newspaper but it should inform on things with a neutral point of view and respecting the truth ad reality. Cancelling his article when there is clearly a base for it should be considered negating the reality and assuming a non-neutral point of view that in that case would favour Spain. As people didn't wait, there were two articles created (both this one) and Catalan Republic (2017), the latter of which has already had to be semi protected because of poor-quality edits, while the main article is fully protected for similar reasons. FWIW I have no strong opinions either way on Catalonian independence and don't know anyone there. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 17:00, 27 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Introduction to contentious topics[edit]

You have recently edited a page related to the Arab–Israeli conflict, a topic designated as contentious. This standard message is designed as an introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

  • adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
  • comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
  • follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
  • comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
  • refrain from gaming the system.

Additionally you must be logged-in, have 500 edits and an account age of 30 days and are not allowed to make more than 1 revert within 24 hours on a page within this topic.

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.
