The last Caliph of the Ottoman Empire and of Islam, Abdülmecid II.

Why are you removing the picture of Abdülmecid II? Also why make the maps smaller and harder to read? Enter CambridgeBayWeather, waits for audience applause, not a sausage 14:12, 12 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Picture of Abdülmecid II concerns more to Turkish history, than to the Arabian. History of Caliphate should include period VII—XIII centuries. Map of the Islamic caliphate and of the Ottoman Caliphate are made less because of the big height.--Syrdesert (talk) 19:56, 12 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. Do the maps look too big to you. They seem a bit small to me. Enter CambridgeBayWeather, waits for audience applause, not a sausage 20:42, 12 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I wouldn't say that Abdulmecid II concerns more Turkish history since there were scores of Muslims throughout the world that still recognized the later Ottoman Caliphs' legitimacy, at least to some degree, see Khilafat Movement. You indicated that his picture "concerns more to Turkish history, than to Arabian." Actually, the caliphate neither concerns Arabian, Turkish nor any other "ethnicity." Caliphate was created by the Arabs. I wanted to show his classical period. The picture of Abdülmecid II is more appropriate in article List of caliphs.--Syrdesert (talk) 09:34, 13 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Regardless of what group created the office of the caliphate, the caliphate is a RELIGIOUS not an ethnic concept. Other groups of Muslims who were NOT Turkish accepted the Ottoman caliph as caliph of Islam. Scythian1 (talk) 00:05, 14 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The caliphate is primarily a HISTORIC state, and only then a religious concept.--Syrdesert (talk) 13:01, 14 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
