TKostolany, Would you be agreeable to modify your nice drawing of the nitrilium ylide so that the methylide end is on the right rather than on the left (basically a vertical mirror image of the structures that you have drawn? This would facilitate the comparison of nitrile ylides with nitrile oxides. Additionally, the drawing would then have the cation end to the left of the anion end of the dominate resonance structure (1) - consistent with its namesake "nitrile ylide" - the "ide" denotes the anionic methylidene connectivity to the nitrile.
