August 2008[edit]

Your recent comment at AN could give Wikipedia contributors the impression that you may consider legal or other "off-wiki" action against the Wikimedia Foundation. Please note that this is strictly prohibited under Wikipedia's policies on legal threats and civility. Users who make such threats may be blocked. ˉˉanetode╦╩ 04:12, 23 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It could only create that impression if the contributors did not know how to read. Thaïs Alexandrina (talk) 03:12, 24 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Cute. Point is, you need to refrain from offering legal consultation of any sort on Wikipedia, especially when talking about possible legal actions against the Wikimedia Foundation. Please have some consideration for the illiterate contributors to this project, some of them are allowed a handy little "block user" button right next to your username. Regards, ˉˉanetode╦╩ 03:24, 24 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I did not offer legal consultation in any manner whatever, and I object to your insistence that I did. Nor did I suggest taking legal action against wiki-anything, and I do not understand why you would want to create the impression that I did. This whole topic is something you initiated, and I do not know where you are going with it; please stop. Thaïs Alexandrina (talk) 03:37, 24 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

"I would happily point out to anyone who needs to know the appropriate way to show in a court of law..." I have nothing against you personally and I hope to put this topic to rest as much as you do. Nevertheless, it is my responsibility to let you know if you stepped out of bounds of Wikipedia policy. You did — please don't do so again. Thank you and happy editing! ˉˉanetode╦╩ 03:49, 24 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Again, I did not offer legal consultation in any manner whatever, nor did I suggest taking legal action against wiki-anything. I did not violate any wikipedia policy, and I would hope that anyone who took on themselves the responsibility of enforcing a policy would do so carefully and not leave other user's talk pages filled with unsupportable allegations.Thaïs Alexandrina (talk) 15:04, 24 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Blocked[edit]

Thais, I've blocked you for 48 hours due to your repeated attacks and trolling on WP:AN and elsewhere. When involved in a content dispute, you are expected to remain civil and to either step away from the situation or seek dispute resolution when problems escalate. The comments you were quoting from Exploding Boy are in no way incivil or personal attacks and your continuation of the dispute on the Admin's Noticeboard is unacceptable. You are welcome to contest this block by adding the text {{unblock|your reason here}} below this message. This guide can help you format your request. Before requesting, however, please take some time to calm down and consider your recent actions instead of those of others. Thank you. Hersfold (t/a/c) 00:37, 28 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have been civil. I dropped the matter, he continued it, in a particularly gratuitous manner. I don't see how anyone could not see Exploding Boy's continuation of the dispute as a personal attack. I think this block is unjust and unfair. Thaïs Alexandrina (talk) 01:11, 28 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Then request an unblock as I described. I'm not unblocking you, as from what I can tell, the situation is exactly the opposite of what you're describing. Hersfold (t/a/c) 01:17, 28 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Okay. I'll run through this because you seem to be asking...

We had a dispute on the Administrator's Notebook. The conversation was stopped by an admin. Like anybody might, I did want to respond to a few last lame shots, but I didn't, I respected the principles of wikipedia. Exploding Boy did not, and posted about a different topic, "Thaïs Alexandrina is new here as well, and has been admonished several times to remain civil. Xeriphas' view of the source seems quite correct to me. Please also see WP:SOURCE. Exploding Boy (talk) 18:26, 27 August 2008 (UTC)" How is that not a personal attack? It's an adhominem argument; that I am wrong because I am I, not because of content or anything else. It's also a case of taking a dispute over one issue and dragging out into different places to continue it there. That's unethical. I would be embarassed to do it, and I would be embarassed to be associated with it. (And the only person who's admonished me to be civil is him.) I went back to the Administrator's Notebook page started a new section and recited all this, that he was carrying on a dispute and attacking me anew.

He tried to defend himself saying that I had continued the argument, which is not true. I did post some things on a private talk page of a third party, someone who had appeared interested in substance of the original dispute. User talk:Keeper76 I also even posted there " Well, first, I am not trying to win any arguments. ... I am not arguing for any position, but since you seem to be asking, I am only trying to explain it."

But me carrying on an aside on someone's talk page is NOT running around assassinating someone's character on article discussion pages. That was Exploding Boy, the guy you're defending.

If your action is correct, that means when the block expires, I can go off and follow him to anywhere he's posted, and post all sorts of ad hominem slurs about him. "Don't believe him, he's just a pest." Because apparently THAT is acceptable wikipedia policy.

I don't know if I am going to go through the request to be unblocked. It looks to be a whole lot of time to achieve what? Achieve vindication before a group of people that ... well, I've seen Keeper76's talk page since, they're all revelling in their ability to shout me down already; I don't know what value there would be in achieving vindication before a group of people like that.
