Hi, no one seems to answer whenever I try to find an adopter, but I was hoping maybe you would be around because I saw you were listed? InfernusIsHiding-Talk 18:31, 1 October 2014 (UTC)

September star

May I suggest to extend the image from the bottom to avoid the cut in the symbol? How about using the other symbols to add more color, with different sizes, and making a perfect star shape? 84.127.80.114 (talk) 16:11, 3 October 2014 (UTC)

Sockpuppet investigation

An editor has opened an investigation into sockpuppetry by you. Sockpuppetry is the use of more than one Wikipedia account in a manner that contravenes community policy. The investigation is being held at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/LauraHale, where the editor who opened the investigation has presented their evidence. Please make sure you make yourself familiar with the guide to responding to investigations, and then feel free to offer your own evidence or to submit comments that you wish to be considered by the Wikipedia administrator who decides the result of the investigation. If you have been using multiple accounts (in a manner contrary to Wikipedia policy), please go to the investigation page and verify that now. Leniency is usually shown to those who promise not to do so again, or who did so unwittingly, but the abuse of multiple accounts is taken very seriously by the Wikipedia community.

The above page has just been written by a new editor. To add a non-notable template to a page, threatening with deletion, when it's clearly notable seems a very odd thing to do [1]. Had you bothered to read it, the lead clearly explains why this page is more than notable - it's an important historic building and belongs to a style of architecture almost unique in Russia. I have reverted you [2]. I note you seek to adopt newbies, I hope you ae a little more understanding towards them. Giano (talk) 22:30, 30 October 2014 (UTC)

{[ping|Giano|Charlesdrakew}} Thank you Giano for reverting that. I meant to tag it with {{ref improve}} but somehow tagged it with notability issues. The sources provided were in Russian but it was easy enough to identify one of them as a primary source, an unreliable source (from a blog) and one of them is a dead link. I also did not notice it was created by a new a new editor. I probably wouldn't of tagged it for sources and give it a week or two. Thanks,  ΤheQ Editor  Talk? 23:49, 30 October 2014 (UTC)

Copyright checks when performing AfC reviews

Hello TheQ Editor. This message is part of a mass mailing to people who appear active in reviewing articles for creation submissions. First of all, thank you for taking part in this important work! I'm sorry this message is a form letter – it really was the only way I could think of to covey the issue economically. Of course, this also means that I have not looked to see whether the matter is applicable to you in particular.

The issue is in rather large numbers of copyright violations ("copyvios") making their way through AfC reviews without being detected (even when easy to check, and even when hallmarks of copyvios in the text that should have invited a check, were glaring). A second issue is the correct method of dealing with them when discovered.

If you don't do so already, I'd like to ask for your to help with this problem by taking on the practice of performing a copyvio check as the first step in any AfC review. The most basic method is to simply copy a unique but small portion of text from the draft body and run it through a search engine in quotation marks. Trying this from two different paragraphs is recommended. (If you have any question about whether the text was copied from the draft, rather than the other way around (a "backwards copyvio"), the Wayback Machine is very useful for sussing that out.)

If you do find a copyright violation, please do not decline the draft on that basis. Copyright violations need to be dealt with immediately as they may harm those whose content is being used and expose Wikipedia to potential legal liability. If the draft is substantially a copyvio, and there's no non-infringing version to revert to, please mark the page for speedy deletion right away using {{db-g12|url=URL of source}}. If there is an assertion of permission, please replace the draft article's content with {{subst:copyvio|url=URL of source}}.

Some of the more obvious indicia of a copyvio are use of the first person ("we/our/us..."), phrases like "this site", or apparent artifacts of content written for somewhere else ("top", "go to top", "next page", "click here", use of smartquotes, etc.); inappropriate tone of voice, such as an overly informal tone or a very slanted marketing voice with weasel words; including intellectual property symbols (™,®); and blocks of text being added all at once in a finished form with no misspellings or other errors.

I hope this message finds you well and thanks again you for your efforts in this area. Best regards--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 02:20, 18 November 2014 (UTC).

Use of the term "homosexual."

Gay rights advocates have been protesting the use of the term "homosexual" for about 40 years, stating that it is homophobic, reflective of the pathologization and criminalization that LGBT people have faced for decades. It is a term for a type of psychosis. Most LGBT people, as well as scholars in the field of gender and sexuality studies, find the term offensive. The preferred terms are gay, gay/lesbian, LGBT, same-sex, and queer.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.115.110.100 (talk) 19:11, 18 November 2014‎

First of all, that was four months ago. But that doesn't really matter. I'm sorry to say I do not know a lot about LGBT related stuff, but LGBT would be the official term. On Wikipedia, we do not censor the content, as stated here. "Wikipedia may contain content that some readers consider objectionable or offensive, even exceedingly so." It doesn't matter if you don't like it. Again, I have almost completely no knowledge on this. You can bring it to a WP:Noticeboard if you want.  ΤheQ Editor  Talk? 20:47, 19 November 2014 (UTC)
Never mind all that. I was wrong, I looked into some of the sources provided and it uses the term "gay". I am very sorry. Also, you claim that you have a Ph.D which I am not going to argue about. But next time, when you are explaining something, provide sources. Wikipedia is not a place for Original Research and if you provide sources, people would more likely believe and listen to you. Thanks,  ΤheQ Editor  Talk? 21:02, 19 November 2014 (UTC)
(talk page stalker) Actually, Q is right. Like Q said, Wikipedia is not censored. Also, having a PhD gives you no advantage (See WP:EXPERTISE) and you shouldn't go saying you know more than everyone else. Also, look at how many times "homosexual" or one of it's derived words is used at Wikipedia:WikiProject LGBT studies. It's been discussed many times. I'm not going to dig into all of those discussions, but I think if the discussions said that the term was offensive and shouldn't be used, Wikipedia:WikiProject LGBT studies would be the first place to stop using it. --AmaryllisGardener talk 21:35, 19 November 2014 (UTC)
@AmaryllisGardener: Yes, but if you look at the references, they all use the term "gay" not "homosexual".  ΤheQ Editor  Talk? 21:46, 19 November 2014 (UTC)
Well, if the references say "gay", then "gay" can be used, if the ref says "homosexual", then "homosexual" can be used. If the ref says gay, then okay, but that's not the argument this editor's trying to make. All I'm saying is that "The LGBT/gay community finds this term offensive" is not a valid argument. --AmaryllisGardener talk 21:53, 19 November 2014 (UTC)

Sockpuppetry investigation closed

Hi. I've closed the sockpuppetry investigation that was opened against you on November 3. The evidence presented to suggest that the account LauraHale was your sockpuppet was not sufficiently convincing (in my opinion) to justify taking action.

However, in the course of the investigation, five other accounts were uncovered which were judged (either conclusively or on balance of probabilities) to have been sockpuppets of yours: Billy on Boxes, Joydebbei, TheOther Q, George Mild, and Helloyolo. All of these accounts have been indefinitely blocked.

I would strongly advise you not to create any more sockpuppet accounts, unless you can provide a very, very good explanation of what you are doing and why you need more than one account. The only reason you were not given a block right now is that the above sockpuppets hadn't been used for several weeks, and any sanction against you at this time for these actions would be purely punitive (something which Wikipedia sanctions are not supposed to be). Please carefully read the sockpuppetry policy (WP:SOCK) and make sure your actions from here on are firmly on the "good" side of the line, because any future action by you that seems likely to fall under the sockpuppetry umbrella will probably lead to you being blocked from editing. — Richwales (no relation to Jimbo) 18:44, 22 November 2014 (UTC)

Thanks for closing the investigation @Richwales:. I have one concern though, I still don't understand why you blocked my other account TheOther Q (indefinitely) though. That's basically the only account I can use to edit Wikipedia on public computers and it is now blocked. That being blocked also performed an autoblock on me. If you could please unblock me, then I could continue working on articles. Scratch that, I probably won't be editing for the rest of the day. But if you could lift the block of TheOther Q, then it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,  ΤheQ Editor  Talk? 19:34, 22 November 2014 (UTC)
Fair enough. I've unblocked TheOther Q. I can't find any autoblocks; please contact me with more details if you continue to be autoblocked. — Richwales (no relation to Jimbo) 00:47, 23 November 2014 (UTC)

Advice on Berkhamsted

Hello, I am not sure if you work, time and interests cover Towns and Cities in general. I have been slowly trying to improve the article on the small but very historic town Berkhamsted Herts. I would like to raise its WikiProject Cities status from Rated Start-class, Low-importance to B-class, mid-importance. I put up the article for peer review last week, but it has not been picked up yet, though I have tried to implement the auto=peer review suggestions. The article has not been formerly copy-edited. Any advice or help would be appreciated. -- BOD -- 13:04, 25 November 2014 (UTC)
