Is GMP synthetase the same as GMP synthase (glutamine-hydrolysing)? Pdcook (talk) 01:42, 16 November 2009 (UTC)

Yes. It's a more correct name. A synthetase catalyzes a reaction that hydrolyzes ATP, whereas a synthase does not. Check out synthase and synthetase. Theutbk (talk) 19:45, 17 November 2009 (UTC)
