Timeline[edit]

Thanks for your message, Threshold, and for the 1492-1616 information. It gives the article more context. Which of the parts I removed do you think are important? Concerning the Morisco-Ottoman relationship, I thought the details were covered in the Morisco Revolt article. and it doesn't mention any pirates, and a quick search on google didn't bring up anything about it, so I left those details out replaced them with the current text for 1609. The 1610 entry you wrote seemed redundant and a little confusing as it talks about 1609-1616 and not a certain event in 1610. I thought your 1616 entry closed the timeline quite nicely. But it seemed to suggest the entire timeline was about Muslim presence in Iberia, which I felt wasn't quite what this timeline was about. yet. it seems to moving that way with your addition. --Yodakii 16:48:46, 2005-09-12 (UTC)

about the introduction of “piracy", that was, in fact, the main visible concern of Charles I, Philip II and Philip III in respect to the population (Though there were other political reasons for the expulsion, of course). By that time, the South Eastern part of the Iberian Peninsula, and most of the Western Mediterranean sea was under systematic and continuous attacks by North African pirates (actually corsairs servicing the Ottoman Empire), and it was one of the triggers for the Battle of Lepanto. For logistic reasons, since I am writing from memory, as I do not have my documentation at hand (recently moved from USA to Europe), I cannot provide any written source on this, but I will try. That all sounds really interesting! Please add whatever you can to the relevant articles when you find the time. One issue I'm particularly concerned about is Philip III's "Act of Expulsion". There doesn't seem to be any information about it on wikipedia (besides the timeline), and I don't know much about that part of history. Your contribution is appreciated! --Yodakii 13:59, 13 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hi you need to put the source and an appropriate license tag (Wikipedia:Image_copyright_tags) on the image page for all images you upload or they will get deleted. Thanks Arnie587 20:10, 2 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]
