Wakanosato past tensing[edit]

I missed that you were past tensing more of Wakanosato's article after your initial edit. You and I were editing at the same time yesterday (my time anyway) and may have had some edit conflicts. I wasn't trying to step on your editing toes. Sorry about that. :) FourTildes (talk) 22:23, 3 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

No problem. I only started adding detail when I saw your edit to List of active sumo wrestlers. Do you think we should add something to 2015 in sumo? I see that Kyokutenhō's retirement got a mention there, but he was a yūshō winner. Tigerboy1966  08:56, 4 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

WikiCup 2015: The results[edit]

WikiCup 2015 is now in the books! Congrats to our finalists and winners, and to everyone who took part in this year's competition.

This year's results were an exact replica of last year's competition. For the second year in a row, the 2015 WikiCup champion is Smithsonian Institution Godot13 (submissions) (FP bonus points). All of his points were earned for an impressive 253 featured pictures and their associated bonus points (5060 and 1695, respectively). His entries constituted scans of currency from all over the world and scans of medallions awarded to participants of the U.S. Space program. Wales Cwmhiraeth (submissions) came in second place; she earned by far the most bonus points (4082), for 4 featured articles, 15 good articles, and 147 DYKs, mostly about in her field of expertise, natural science. Belarus Cas Liber (submissions), a finalist every year since 2010, came in third, with 2379 points.

Our newcomer award, presented to the best-performing new competitor in the WikiCup, goes to United States Rationalobserver (submissions). Everyone should be very proud of the work they accomplished. We will announce our other award winners soon.

A full list of our award winners are:

We warmly invite all of you to sign up for next year's competition. Discussions and polls concerning potential rules changes are also open, and all are welcome to participate. The WikiCup judges will be back in touch over the coming months, and we hope to see you all in the 2016 competition. Until then, it only remains to once again congratulate our worthy winners, and thank all participants for their involvement! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove yourself from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send.

Hi dear friend!

Question: In the text: "The Macro Video was a normal and average cinema 10 years ago and It is a 5-floor building cinema now. "The Macro Video used to be a usual cinema but it's got many halls." WikiCup 2016 is just around the corner...[edit]

Hello everyone, and we would like to wish you all a happy holiday season. As you will probably already know, the 2016 WikiCup begins in the new year; there is still time to sign up. There are some changes we'd like to announce before the competition begins.

After two years of serving as WikiCup judge, User:Miyagawa has stepped down as judge. He deserves great thanks and recognition for his dedication and hard work, and for providing necessary transition for a new group of judges in last year's Cup. Joining Christine (User:Figureskatingfan) and Jason (User:Sturmvogel 66) is Andrew (User:Godot13), a very successful WikiCup competitor and expert in Featured Pictures; he won the two previous competitions. This is a strong judging team, and we anticipate lots of enjoyment and good work coming from our 2016 competitors.

We would also like to announce one change in how this year's WikiCup will be run. In the spirit of sportsmanship, Godot13 and Cwmhiraeth have chosen to limit their participation. See here for the announcement and a complete explanation of why. They and the judges feel that it will make for a more exciting, enjoyable, and productive competition.

The discussions/polls concerning the next competition's rules will be closed soon, and rules changes will be made clear on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Scoring and talk pages. The judges are committed to not repeating the confusion that occurred last year and to ensuring that the new rules are both fair and in the best interests of the competition, which is, first and foremost, about improving Wikipedia.

If you have any questions or concerns, the judges can be reached on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, on their talk pages, or by email. We hope you will all join us in trying to make the 2015 WikiCup the most productive and enjoyable yet. You are receiving this message because you are listed on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. Season's Greetings[edit]

Wishing you a Charlie Brown
Charlie Russell Christmas! 🎄
Best wishes for your Christmas
Is all you get from me
'Cause I ain't no Santa Claus
Don't own no Christmas tree.
But if wishes was health and money
I'd fill your buck-skin poke
Your doctor would go hungry
An' you never would be broke."

OK, that is the silliest bot error I have ever seen! Have you notified the bot owner of this? By the way, I try to add NOINDEX to all my sandboxes. Montanabw(talk) 03:27, 4 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Once could be a fluke. I'll probably let the bot owner know. I was more bothered about the sandbox contents being copied to a site which was apparently copyrighted. I was tempted to replace the content with some colourful language but settled for PLEASE STOP READING THIS AND GO TO WIKIPEDIA. Thanks for the tip about NOINDEX. I will definitely use that. WikiCup 2016: Game On![edit]

We are about to enter the second week of the 2016 WikiCup. The most recent player to sign up brings the current total to 101 contestants. Signups close on 5 February. If you’re interested, you can join this year's WikiCup here.

We are aware that in some areas the scoring bot’s numbers are a little bit off (i.e., overly generous) and are working to have that corrected as soon as possible.--MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 18:04, 7 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Dunbeath[edit]

Hi, just had a glance through Dunbeath and the section about his 1984 season is a bit confusing - not sure how to change it! --Bcp67 (talk) 20:02, 2 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Ok let me look at it again. Tigerboy1966  20:07, 2 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Misread comment and started re-writing 1983, but I see what you meant about 1984. Fixed, I think, and thanks for pointing this out. I meant to say that it was only race at Graded level. Tigerboy1966  20:23, 2 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Looks good now, I changed the year mentioned in the section from 1983 to 1984 and I think its all fine. Don't remember him particularly well, one of a number around that time who didn't progress from 2 to 3. --Bcp67 (talk) 20:27, 2 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
That's why the race was nicknamed the "William Hill Obscurity". Tigerboy1966  20:30, 2 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
The 1980 runner-up was reasonably useful, I think. --Bcp67 (talk) 21:06, 2 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, I mis-clicked the rollback button. Anyway, the community has already decided on this issue. See Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Ethnic groups#Proposal for the deletion of all the galleries of personalities from the infoboxes of articles about ethnic groups If you wish to change the wider consensus, you'll have to start a new discussion, but consensus was pretty clear that these things add no value to the article and shouldn't be in the infobox.--William Thweatt TalkContribs 22:52, 6 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I am part of the community, and I did not "decide" this issue. Tigerboy1966  23:06, 6 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Consensus doesn't require that every single editor agree. The discussion was very widely publicised, and the proposal received broad support. Cordless Larry (talk) 23:15, 6 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
The proposal was not that well publicized, certainly not on the articles affected. Montanabw(talk)|GO THUNDER! 08:11, 7 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
As a proposal that had the possibility to affect hundreds of articles, it would have been impractical to mention it on every article which might be affected. The RfC, however, was listed in numerous central locations that most longtime and/or active editors should have on their watch lists and those listings triggered automated notices to some relevant Wikiproject pages (those which have such automated notices set up) which are also watched by project members and many other concerned editors. The RfC was open for over a month and certainly received a huge amount of input. Frankly, I don't see how it could have been any more publicized.--William Thweatt TalkContribs 08:31, 7 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Runhappy[edit]

I will not stop deleting that info. The info pertains to two humans not the racehorse. That horse was already famous before that unlike what some other person said. The page is about a racehorse not what is going on between employee and employer. Pb17522 (talk) 21:09, 13 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The information is referenced in reliable sources and it relates directly to subject of the article. Tigerboy1966  21:22, 13 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
The information is referenced about two humans who have a dispute about wages. It has nothing to do with Runhappy as a racehorse. Pb17522 (talk) 21:26, 13 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Well, Pb17522, your viewpoint has now been rejected by multiple wikipedia editors, so I suggest you drop the stick before you get blocked. Montanabw(talk) 06:47, 15 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Would you like to do a FAC review?[edit]

I have my "pigskin pony" up for FAC: Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Thunder (mascot)/archive1 I'm pinging you as a possible reviewer because you are unique in that you know horses but are probably not an expert on American gridiron football. I always like at least one reviewer who is not familiar with a topic and at least one who is; and I've pinged a sports fan who is not a horse person to fill one set of shoes, and I thought of you for the other! I think you'll have a lot of fun reading the article. (I'm also looking for an equestrian-themed alliteration that goes with "gridiron" -- I can only come up with "Grrrabian" which is my nickname for my own critters (as they are anything but fierce, more like pocket ponies) but I digress...) Worth prepping in the Kentucky Derby queue? [1]. I like this colt. Montanabw(talk) 01:40, 28 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

You just read my mind! I think four GII's qualifies and he is awfully pretty as well. I just wish they would get rid of that idiotic "gray or roan" description: lets see how "roan" he'll look in five years time! Tigerboy1966  08:47, 28 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
No shit. And furthermore, I don't think that the true roan gene exists in TBs anyway! Have you ever seen an actual roan TB? I haven't. Some weird grays, but they all get there eventually...Montanabw(talk) 09:35, 28 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I've been following the sport for 35 years and have never seen a roan TB. Take a look at this pic of the officially "gray or roan" mare Careless Jewel [2]. Just bask in her roan-ness. Tigerboy1966  19:04, 28 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Creag-An-Sgor[edit]

Another excellent article. Has always amused me that he was first relegated from third to second in the Richmmond and then moved back up to second on Vacarme's disqualification. My memory of 30+ years back tells me that Piggott's ride on Vacarme sparked a chain of events which led to Cauthen ending up at Warren Place after Wildenstein refused to have Piggott ride for him. --Bcp67 (talk) 12:17, 7 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I think that Wildenstein's reaction could be described as "throwing a hissy fit" although I'm not sure the phrase was commonly used in Britain in the early 80's. Vacarme would probably have kept the race today as Rule 54 has changed a bit: the horse he hampered would never have finished in front of him. Tigerboy1966  19:19, 7 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Good luck there, always felt he was a touch too small for a National horse, but my track record doesn't suggest I have any real clue!! --Bcp67 (talk) 19:31, 5 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I never said I thought he would win I just really, really want him to win. The little SF is pure class and I envision him "moving up on the final turn, taking the lead approaching the last and drawing away up the run-in to win by ten lengths from Sir Des Champs with Many Clouds a length away in third". (that's my Tigerboy1966-style planned update text!). He will have my £5EW. Tigerboy1966  20:07, 8 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The (US) Derby[edit]

Well, given our mutual opinion of the trainer of the favorite, who are you looking at for Kentucky Derby picks? Was Mohaymen's flub in Florida a one-off or is he sunk? Can Mor Spirit ever stop coming in second? Is Exaggerator not? Are we doing wrong to ignore the other east coast horses? Can Brody's Cause surprise us all? Montanabw(talk) 03:17, 2 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I won't bet a bean on the race, but Brody's Cause is the one I WANT to win, for 2 reasons. I like his pedigree: I wouldn't normally approve of 3 × 4 inbreeding but when the horse involved is Roberto (one of my all-time faves) I'm fine with it. It actually looks like the pedigree of a proper middle-distance horse and has Belmont written all over it. The second reason is that he's trained by Dale Romans who is most definitely one of the good guys, see this [5] Tigerboy1966  11:26, 2 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I get an enormous kick out of Dale Romans: [6] he's a great character. I like your analysis. I do wonder if Exaggerator is just a mudder or if he's coming into his own (the Desormeaux bros also have a good back story) and I do wonder if Mohaymen is going to come back or if his disappointing performance in Florida is indicative of where he's going now. I also don't want to overlook Outwork. Wonder how many stubs we could create on these critters this year... I think we hit a trifecta on the top finishers last year, if memory serves. (not sure if we -- or to be precise -- you -- had Firing Line up, but I know "we" had the other two). Montanabw(talk) 17:03, 3 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I can do Brody's Cause for sure: he has 2 G1s already. The Racing Post are very keen on Destin. I don't see Exaggerator winning unless they go a stupidly fast pace (but that could happen). I'll be hoping to repeat my 2013 success when I posted Orb one hour before he won. Tigerboy1966  18:12, 3 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Destin isn't getting a lot of love in the US press. The weird thing about this year is how many closers there are in the race; Nyquist is one of the few that runs off the pace, and I think Danzig Candy is the only real speed horse. The traffic jam is going to really be something, I think that's fair to say. Montanabw(talk) 03:23, 4 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Well I got Brody's Cause up and am doing Exaggerator, who has a healthy-looking pedigree. I'd be v surprised if Nyquist wasn't in front early in the straight, but after that it could be fun. As I listen to the race on the radio I look forward to hearing umpteen horses named in the last 20 seconds. It could go to a horse whose jockey is prepared to give ground in exchange for a wide, clear run. Tigerboy1966  20:19, 4 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Nice page. Is there a reason for why the list starts from 1942? Is that simply where you left off or some historical reason? If it's where you left off, that's fine. If there is an historical reason could you add that to the lead? Good work. :) FourTildes (talk) 00:49, 16 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. I think I stopped there because I realised I was going to start running into a bunch of redlinks. Also the list now includes all the wrestlers who held the rank since WW2. Tigerboy1966  06:57, 16 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Any notion?[edit]

Where to find the actual chart for the 1973 Kentucky Derby? The article is up for GAN and I'm reviewing it, but several of the editor's sources are offline hardcopy and I'm trying to verify some stuff. (Take a look yourself if you want). Montanabw(talk) 03:01, 23 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I certainly don't have it to hand but I will look around. Tigerboy1966  06:20, 23 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
If you're still looking, I can scan it from a book I have. Jlvsclrk (talk) 04:23, 27 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation link notification for June 6[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Good Lord, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Zamazaan. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Belmont Day[edit]

Are you doing a clean up on the Metropolitan Handicap. Cause I noticed the formatting isn't consistent, and some of the names aren't consistent either - John R. Velazquez vs John Velazquez was one I noticed because I was trying to verify the jockey record. I'll tidy up if you aren't already doing so, but I notice we kept getting in each other's way. :)

I've been working my way through the undercard, Manhattan next. I'll leave the big guy to y'all! Jlvsclrk (talk) 21:28, 11 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I think you've been doing some fantastic work on the project lately and I'm always sorry when my edits conflict. I was trying to get the names of the the jockeys owners and trainers as concise as possible. There's not much point typing John R. Velazquez when it redirects to John Velazquez. I wouldn't change my handle to Panthera Tigris, Jr. MCMLXVI. Oh look Flintshire won again! C'mon Brody's Cause. Tigerboy1966  21:57, 11 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, Tigerboy1966. I'd rather have us conflict than have something get left out because it was assumed someone else would do it! Yah, I'd rather see Chad Brown than Chad I. Brown anyday but that's how it goes. I only brought up Velazquez because on sort they don't wind up together. After today's performances, I was thinking of starting articles for Creator and Frosted, but thought I'd check if you were already doing so. Thanks!Jlvsclrk (talk) 22:55, 11 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I'm having massive problems with my internet at the moment, so go for it! I'll chip in when my laptop recovers. There was a top class European horse called Creator in the 90s so you might have to be a bit careful with links. Tigerboy1966  23:10, 11 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Looks like no conflict for Creator (horse). Be fun to see Frosted (horse) finally earn his way onto wikipedia!! Montanabw(talk) 06:15, 12 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Going slow today. Probs with internet. I had to start a new user to escape from the bugs but have lost all my bookmarks for references etc. Tigerboy1966  12:14, 12 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Kagyaki[edit]

Kagayaki fixed! Btw, this is FourTildes, I did this on the fly on my phone and I'm not sure if I'm logged in. Thanks for the heads up. FourTildes (talk) 22:24, 23 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
