August 2020[edit]

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on 2022 Formula One World Championship; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus, rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Points to note:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made;
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes and work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing.Start a talkpage discussion Joseph2302 (talk) 22:18, 23 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Notice of edit warring noticeboard discussion[edit]

Information icon Hello. August 2020[edit]

You are suspected of sock puppetry, which means that someone suspects you of using multiple Wikipedia accounts for prohibited purposes. Please make yourself familiar with the guide to responding to investigations, then, if you wish to do so, respond to the evidence at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Tjbakerscala. Thank you.

Warning[edit]

Tjbakerscala, I see that, by now, you have stopped reverting and have started discussing the issue on the talk page. For that reason, I am not going to block you; however, please note that should you start reverting other people again, without having achieved consensus on the talk page first, I will be blocking you. Salvio 10:05, 24 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

But, Salvio giuliano, their last revert, through a sock puppet, followed hours after their last talk comment. That doesn't demonstrate them having stopped reverting in favor of discussion at all.Tvx1 11:03, 24 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Tvx1: the sock wasn't theirs. Salvio 11:14, 24 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
It was a surprise to return to my computer to see an explosion of notifications on my page. I'm quite new to the culture of Wikipedia editting. I'll add, that I didn't actually know what "sockpuppetting" was and had to look it up. This is a learning experience. I'll continue to work to learn more about the cultural norms at Wikipedia (ie. Rules, processes, etc.) in order to avoid inadvertently causing distruption by edit warring. I've engaged in a talk discussion in order to achieve consensus.
I'm assuming that @Tvxl: has encountered sockpuppeting frequently enough to suspect it in a case where my username was adopted, with one letter changed (TJBakerScala --> TJBakerScale). But I can assure you that this was not performed by me. I suppose this is a situation where new (and admittedly ignorant, still learning) users like me are prime targets for malicious actors. I hope that there are no hard feelings @Tvxl!
Thank you, @Salvio:, for clarifying that I did not create a sockpuppet. I appreciate the charity and commitment to evidence. Thanks again for steering me in the right direction! Cheers TJBakerScala 16:48, 24 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Signatures[edit]

Hi,

I am sure it is not your intention (and I could be wrong) but I think that your signature is in breach of signature policies. Currently your signature links to User:TJBakerScala (who doesn't exist, wikilinks are case specific (apart from the first character)). If you wish to continue using capitilisation in your user name you should use a piped link (i.e. [[User talk:Tjbakerscala|TJBakerScala]]). Additionally it should link to your user page if it doesn't exist, instead you should link your usertalk (this) page. Thank you,

Thank you for the heads up @SSSB:. To clarify, this is just a common case of Hanlon's razor: attribute first to ignorance, that which can be attributed to malice. Thanks for the heads up! I had no idea. I'm still learning. I appreciate your steering me in the right direction TJBakerScala (user talk) 17:25, 25 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
You misunderstood me. When I said Additionally it should link to your user page if it doesn't exist, instead you should link your usertalk (this) page. - this only applies if you decide to only link to one. If you link to both there is no need to (though you can if you wish to). Sorry for confusing you.

I think that I might have the hang of it, now? Tjbakerscala (talk) 17:44, 25 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Yes. That's perfect.

Thanks @SSSB:. Apprecaite it! Tjbakerscala (talk) 17:54, 25 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
