GA nomination of Johann Peter Hebel

Hello! I wanted to make sure that you were aware the the GA review of Johann Peter Hebel was placed "on hold" pending some changes that need to be made. I'm sorry I forgot to notify you about it before. Don't worry, I'm far from a stickler on the 7-day hold rule. Take the time you need. I see you have other GA noms to handle (including Poor Folk, which I was surprised to find is also your nom. Don't worry, take the time you need to do a good job on that one). I'm sure it is frustrating to have several outstanding noms sit for months (I was so sorry to see that you been waiting since June for this one!) and then suddenly they all get reviewed at once. Just let me know if you are still interested in continuing with this one. Sometimes GA monitors complain to me when they see I have an article on hold and there has been no activity on the talk page for more than a week. So, I just want to be sure of where things stand. Done - I sub-divided divided the 'Sports career' section, which was rather large. What are "Ehrenpreis" and Goldene Ehrennadel (retirement)? The 2012 WikiCup has come to a close; congratulations to Wales Cwmhiraeth (submissions), our 2012 champion! Cwmhiraeth joins our exclusive club of previous winners: Dreamafter (2007), jj137 (2008), Durova (2009), Sturmvogel 66 (2010) and Hurricanehink (2011). Our final standings were as follows:

So that the finalists do not have an undue advantage, the prize is awarded to the competitor who scored the highest in any particular field in a single round.

Awards will be handed out in the coming days; please bear with us! This year's competition also saw fantastic contributions in all rounds, from newer Wikipedians contributing their first good or featured articles, right up to highly experienced Wikipedians chasing high scores and contributing to topics outside of their usual comfort zones. It would be impossible to name all of the participants who have achieved things to be proud of, but well done to all of you, and thanks! Wikipedia has certainly benefited from the work of this year's WikiCup participants.

Next year's WikiCup will begin in January. Currently, discussions and polls are open, and all contributions are welcome. You can also sign up for next year's competition. There will be no further newsletters this year, although brief notes may be sent out in December to remind everyone about the upcoming competition. Sorry you're feeling glum. It is challenging to forge a consensus, sometimes, as everyone has their own opinions. But sometimes it is very satisfying, and people learn to respect each other, and even learn a lot from each other. I am currently enjoying the editorial process on such articles as Joseph Grimaldi, which is finishing a peer review. After more than 6 years, I still feel happy to be helping to improve this free encyclopedia. Sorry to pester you, but I'm having trouble with this ambiguous sentence "Officially, Dostoyevsky's father died of an apoplectic stroke, but a peasant, Pavel Khotiaintsev, claimed he was killed by other peasants; however, the truth of Khotiaintsev's claims could not be verified because if they were true, he would inherit more land". Who(m) does the last "he" refer to? Dostoyevsky (as I reckon) or Pavel? The sentence needs rewording, though it'd be in different ways according to the meaning.
I'd be glad if you could help.
Btw, I've read somewhere else that the story was made up by a landord, not a peasant. Is this so?

I saw the changes you've made to D. article just now. There are some problems with the sentence structure:
  • "French-educating boarding school" isn't clear. From what I've read in The seeds... (p.54) the lads were sent to a day school – not boarding – founded by a certain Souchard (of French origin or French himself, I gather?) because their dad wanted them to learn the "prestigious" Romance lang. As for the p. 9 from A Writer's Life on Google books, I can access only to a teensy-weensy bit in which there's nothing about said school. Is The New Testament Selected for Children written in French? They had to learn it by heart at school? If so, I'd write summat like "They were sent to a day school founded by a French lang. tutor blah, blah"
  • "Mikhail was refused admission on account of his poor health and the school's better studying positions, and was later sent to the Academy in Reval, Estonia. The two brothers had to break up". Again, "studying positions" isn't a collocation in Eng, the comma's misplaced – they’re not independent clauses – and, IMO, the whole thing reads better, less abrupt, with the sentence connector "so".
Linguistic-y things aside, Frank just mentions that Mikhail was refused because of his health, not that he failed his entrance exams (p. 74). And so does Kjetsia on p. 23 (can't get into pp. 35-67 on Google bloody books) What exactly d'you wanna say? That the academy in Reval was less renowned or prestigious?

No, TomCat, I'm not the patronising type. I asked what you wanted to say simply because that info doesn't appear in the books by F. and K. and I was confused – especially after reading in one of them, can't remember which one, that the academy M. went to was in fact less prestigious. Now, if you'd rather I stopped copy-editing the article, just let me know and I'll tell the people at GOCE I'm not involved in the project any more.

When I first read above I thought the "useless and deceitful" were part of the original post but seems I'm wrong [1], hence the advice per WP:TPO: Never edit or move someone's comment to change its meaning, even on your own talk page. Your behaviour suggests the complete opposite of what you wrote here. Please read the ANI entry, where you falsely claimed that one user was vandalizing a page and which was redundant and childish, for more information. The claim that I made about the user being a vandal was reasnoable, as even reliable sources said that she wasn't the Nico voice actress. Once, I saw a user edit the Charles Cecil article, and added a sentense which says: " Elisa Carrio said Charles is looking forward to play asylum from senscape, forged by Agustín Cordes." It might not seem like vandalism, but it is. It says thhat an older Argentinian president said that Charles was looking forward to play some game by some other guy. It's not true, highly unlikely, and doesn't have a source. Just like what this user did. Added something about an actress and her daughter playing the characters, and her brother directing. Now, there is not a credit of this woman in the Credits, IMDb and fans of the series and reliable sources say it's another actress, and this makes it highly unlikely and most likely not true.
