Wikipedia and copyright[edit]

Your addition to Harvey Schiller has had to be removed, as it appears to have added copyrighted material without permission from the copyright holder. While we appreciate your contributing to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from your sources to avoid copyright or plagiarism issues here.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and a cited source.   • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. However, there are steps that must be taken to verify that license before you do. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • In very rare cases (that is, for sources that are public domain or compatibly licensed), it may be possible to include greater portions of a source text. However, please seek help at the help desk before adding such content to the article. 99.9% of sources may not be added in this way, so it is necessary to seek confirmation first. If you do confirm that a source is public domain or compatibly licensed, you will still need to provide full attribution; see Wikipedia:Plagiarism for the steps you need to follow.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied without attribution. If you want to copy from another Wikipedia project or article, you can, but please follow the steps in Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. Managing a conflict of interest[edit]

Information icon Hello, Ts2803. We welcome your contributions to Wikipedia, but if you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article Harvey Schiller, you may have a conflict of interest or close connection to the subject.

All editors are required to comply with Wikipedia's neutral point of view content policy. Copyright problem: Harvey Schiller[edit]

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! We welcome and appreciate your contributions, such as Harvey Schiller, but we regretfully cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from either web sites or printed material. This article appears to contain material copied from http://www.falconheadcapital.com/team/harvey-w-schiller, and therefore to constitute a violation of Wikipedia's copyright policies. Hi! The Harvey Schiller article has now been blanked because of repeated copyright violations, and listed at Wikipedia:Copyright problems for processing. Please be aware that you should not attempt to edit the article until it has been dealt with; that usually takes 7–10 days or sometimes longer, depending on the backlog at that board. I should also warn you that if I see that you have again added copyright material to any article I intend to ask that you be blocked from further editing here until and unless you show understanding and acceptance of our copyright policy. If you would like help or advice on getting started as a Wikipedia editor I am more than happy to offer either or both – I know it isn't easy.
Please correct me if I am wrong, but I am assuming that you are connected in some way, either personal or professional, with Schiller (no need to respond). If, once the present problems are fixed, there are things you would like to see added to the Schiller article, I'm willing to help with that. The new information, with independent reliable sources to support it, can be posted (a little at a time, please) on the talk page of the article. Hi! Yes, I will help with the page. It is at WP:CP now because some of the content you added was copied from http://www.falconheadcapital.com/team/harvey-w-schiller (or came from the same place as that page), and we can't accept copied content here. It will be restored in a few days, probably. If you are connected in some way to Schiller, you can request changes in this way:
  1. On the talk page of the article, Talk:Harvey Schiller, write {{Request edit}} (exactly like that, with the curly brackets - you can copy it from here)
  2. Then write the change you want made; for example "Please add that he is Chairman of the Americas Cup"
  3. Then write the source (a newspaper, book or reliable website) that proves that what you want to add is in fact true; the source needs to be independent of the subject, so not his company or a press release or something he wrote himself
