Patrolling new pages[edit]

Thanks for patrolling new pages (an essential and under-appreciated task). When you tag a page for speedy deletion, you should copy to the author's talk page the notification which appears on the bottom of the speedy template when it is expanded on the article page. Otherwise s/he does not know what has happened or how to do better, and will probably just post the article again.

If it is a new user with a blank talk page, it is a good idea to post {{subst:welcome}} or {{subst:firstarticle}} before the speedy notification.

There is advice for New Page Patrollers at WP:NPP. Keep up the good work! Regards, JohnCD (talk) 10:41, 31 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for welcoming me, if I tag articles for speedy deletion in the future I will be sure to notify the author. Underscorre (talk) 10:59, 31 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Please Don't Remove or Speedy Deletion of Jobert Austria RoiVladimir (talk) 9:05, 28 May 2015 (PST)

RoiVladimir - I'm sorry, I'm not sure I understand what you mean. If you're requesting that it is not deleted, you need to do so via the article's talk page, although I don't think it's notable enough to remain on the website. Underscorre (talk) 13:12, 28 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

New deal for page patrollers[edit]

Hi Underscorre,

In order to better control the quality of new pages, keep out the spam, and welcome the genuine newbies, the current system we introduced in 2011 is being updated and improved. The documentation and tutorials have also been revised and given a facelift. Most importantly a new user group New Page Reviewer has been created.

Under the new rule, you may find that you are temporarily unable to mark new pages as reviewed. However, this is nothing to worry about - most current experienced patrollers are being accorded the the new right without the need to apply, and if you have significant previous experience of patrolling new pages, we strongly encourage you to apply for the new right as soon as possible - we need all the help we can get, and we are now providing a dynamic, supportive environment for your work.

Find out more about this exiting new user right now at New Page Reviewers and be sure to read the new tutorial before applying. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 04:29, 13 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
