Managing a conflict of interest[edit]

Information icon Hello, WCPWowner. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the page Windy City Pro Wrestling, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:Spam);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. ♟♙ (talk) 23:04, 30 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know if this is the place to reply to your statements, I am not proficient in how to use this forum. However, I am the owner of WCPW, James K. Duck. If anyone has the right to edit this page, it's me. You literally have a page that uses my intellectual property to drive your revenue. My interest is not "conflicted". This IP is my interest. You have deleted all of my factual edits and reverted the page to a bunch of falsehoods. Why have you included a "roster" section that lists over two dozen wrestlers that have never worked for my company in ANY year. That includes the years run by the previous owner of my company. You have taken it upon yourself to edit my IP in a way that damages my company by making false claims about who has worked for it in the past. So again, you have deleted accurate edits by the Company Owner and replaced them with lies that presents my company in a false light.

Are you saying that complete strangers with no connection to my company or knowledge of my company are able to write the history of my company but I as the Owner of this company am not allowed to create the accurate history of my own Intellectual Property? You even deleted the file that I uploaded of the new company logo that I paid to have created and I am the sole owner of. You make a copyright claim against Me, the actual copyright owner. Ridiculous!

If this is how you operate Wikipedia, then please direct me to your legal department and my IP Lawyer can have a conversation with them. The only permission that I give for my intellectual property to be used on here, is if I submit it Myself. No one else has a right to give permission to promote my IP other than Myself. If you are going to forbid me from correcting your false and misleading edits or to rectify your misrepresentation of my company, then you will need to delete this entire page at my request. I do not give permission for you to create fake histories about my company or to misrepresent information about my company. Your reckless behavior will undoubtedly cause harm to my company and I cannot allow that.

Blocked[edit]

Hi, WCPWowner. It seems obvious from your username as well as your edit summaries at Windy City Pro Wrestling that you represent the company, and are an undisclosed paid editor. You have been told above that you must disclose such relationships: "you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure." Since you have continued to edit the article without responding here, I have blocked you from editing it. Once you comply with the terms of use, you may be unblocked. Awaiting your response. Bishonen | tålk 11:09, 2 December 2020 (UTC).[reply]

I am the owner of WCPW, James K. Duck. I thought that was obvious by creating the screen name WCPWowner. So how can you claim that this fact was "undisclosed"? I demand that the block be lifted so that I can delete the false roster that "Bishonen‬" has inserted into my company's profile. Whoever is responsible for the inclusion of wrestlers that have NEVER worked for this company in it's 32 year existence is highly irresponsible and damages my company by making it susceptible to claims of "false advertisement". For your admins to insert falsehoods into the profile of MY intellectual property and then block me from correcting it, is not only irresponsible but potentially open to legal repercussions!WCPWowner (talk) 19:25, 3 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Discussion[edit]

Information icon There is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents regarding an issue with which you may have been involved. Thank you. ♟♙ (talk) 00:04, 4 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I asked for you to give me information on how my attorney can contact your legal department. You were never given permission to misrepresent my company as you currently are, particularly by listing wrestlers that have never been a part my company, past or present. I corrected those misrepresentations and you not only undid my edits but you have blocked me from correcting them once again. So it seems obvious that your administrators are consciously and actively defaming my company by making it appear that we are associating ourselves with wrestlers that never worked for us. Please submit information for your legal department and how they may be contacted.WCPWowner (talk) 05:18, 4 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

You don't seem to have any interest in figuring out how Wikipedia works or even attempting to comprehend what people have told you above. If you insist on legal department contacts, here you go [1], but I doubt you'll like the answer they give you. ♟♙ (talk) 14:29, 4 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the contact information. We can avoid this unpleasantness as long as you simply remove the names of the male and female wrestlers that have NEVER worked for this company under ANY owner. How can those names be listed with no supporting reference or citation to back up their inclusion? Out of those 24 names listed in the male/female categories, the only two who ever worked for WCPW are Lacey Von Erich and Ivelisse Velez and that was prior to 2010. The current WCPW roster is listed on my website and can actually be cited with a verifiable reference. So why are talents that have never worked for my company before, listed on this page while the correct talents are not? I have pointed this out in every reply thus far and all you continue to do is take action against me while allowing false information about my company to remain. Edit the roster names so that they are accurate and as I said, we can avoid further unpleasantness.WCPWowner (talk) 15:31, 4 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I have boldly removed the complete Roster sections as they are unsourced and disputed however should another editor revert me I will accept their viewpoint. On all your other points I am in agreement with the advice you have been given and the actions taken Lyndaship (talk) 16:11, 4 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. I appreciate that. While there are a few other incorrect items on the page, those can be corrected over time. My biggest issue was the misrepresentation of talent associated with my company. Since you've made a good faith effort to resolve my complaint, then I consider the "legal threat" to be resolved. Wikipedia's rules are vast and without guiding links, I do not know how to even find most of your information or that these "topics" are a thing. So it's not a matter of ignoring your rules, it's a matter of ignorance to your rules and/or procedures to correct inadvertent errors. I believed that creating a screen name that literally states that I am the "WCPWowner" was defacto proof that I was not trying to be "undisclosed". Furthermore, I had no idea there was a procedure to "formally" disclose such information. So tell me what I need to do in order to comply and remove the block on my account.WCPWowner (talk) 16:57, 4 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Before you do anything, please scroll up this page and click on the blue button that says "Learn more about editing". Also, read everything included under the heading "Managing a conflict of interest" just below it, and also the information linked to that text. If you have any further questions, please click the button "Get help at the teahouse". There are people there who will answer your questions and help you. That roster wasn't removed because of your legal threats, it was done out of kindness. Additionally, it has existed here for a number of years, and this promotion existed for 20 years before you decided to register the abandoned trademark, so there's a great deal more to cover than whatever you have planned to do in DeKalb. Ok? Read the links I mentioned above and please try to understand them before you do anything else, and ask questions at the teahouse link. ♟♙ (talk) 21:32, 4 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

You seem to have a really bad attitude and a fragile ego when it comes to your "power on Wikipedia". You can try to save face by saying the roster wasn't removed due to my "legal threats" but it certainly wasn't removed due to any "kindness" on anyone's part. Unless you want to put into print that you will allow false information to be contributed to a page in violation of your own policies and terms of service, that roster should've been removed much earlier than it was due to my multiple complaints that the information contained in those rosters was false and could not be cited nor referenced per your own criteria. So unless you want to admit to breaking your own rules out of a malice towards Myself and/or my Company, then the rosters were removed with cause, not "out of kindness". The fact that it existed on this page for a number of years just proves by your own admission that Wikipedia is not a reliable source for information, the model of allowing anyone to edit a page is flawed, and for years, you allowed my company to be misrepresented with deliberately false information that contained no citations or references in accordance with your stated policy. not a good thing for a Wikipedia Moderator to admit publicly. This promotion may have existed for 20 years prior to my ownership but it's legacy as "WCPW" or Windy City Pro Wrestling" is only going to exist as long as I allow it to. Legal precedent is on my side. WWE used to be WWF until they lost the legal right to use those letters. Their entire existence prior to the name change had to be altered so that their old footage couldn't use the name WWF. Sam DeCero's version of this company can only be referred to as WCPW and Windy City Pro Wrestling as long as I allow it, including this page. Regardless of what he did for 20 years, that history can only be referred to by my Trademarked name as long as I give permission. Lastly, since I have been reading more of your policies, let me remind you of the fact that should another "legal threat" arise (and I am talking hypothetically so don't say that I am making one now), that all I have to do is name the Moderators that have been blocking me and making false edits to this page, and those moderators will be forbidden from making any more edits to this page until said legal threat is resolved". So if you want to play this game of "I'll hold this page hostage until you do what I say", let me remind you that I also have the ability to restrict your moderation of this page. So let's avoid a Texas Standoff and try to work together to make sure that only accurate information that can be cited and referenced is on this page. Additionally, let's try to show less personal bias towards Myself. Need an example? You've removed my name from the "2000's" list of names of lightweights that emerged from the company. The name Bigtime was among those names, complete with a citation of a news article, and it was removed. It seems like someone wants to eliminate my involvement with my own company as much as possible. Considering that I was a part of DeCero's version of this company as a wrestler, booker, promotional team, and creative consultant, I'd say that I am more qualified to edit this page regarding DeCero's previous ownership than anyone else who has contributed. So please stop the lecturing about what took placer in a promotion that I was heavily involved in prior to owning it.WCPWowner (talk) 21:06, 6 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

All of your comments here are completely irrelevant and indicate you haven't read any of the policies I've pointed out to you. My "power" is also irrelevant. As you've repeatedly been told, you do not get to control what is written here and you certainly do not have a right to edit an article about subjects with which you have a conflict of interest. That's not me talking, it's Wikipedia policy. ♟♙ (talk) 15:10, 7 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

To be crystal clear, please review the Wikipedia policy page "Wikipedia:Ownership of content". At no point in the past, present or future do you have any right of ownership or control over the content of any article, even one about your own company.
Wikipedia is a collaborative project, and articles are not owned by anyone. Article content must be formed from paraphrased summaries of previously published material from reliable, third-party sources. Consensus is Wikipedia's fundamental editorial model, and all editors are required to engage in civil discussion and compromise when content disputes arise. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 07:32, 5 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I own the name WCPW and Windy City Pro Wrestling. So while your rules state that I don't own the content of the article, I certainly own the right to control how my Federally Registered Trademarks are used. If you or anyone else in moderation of this page is going to allow false information to remain as a part of the article without citation or reference, then I have the right to demand changes so no harm is done to my company. I remind you that you have a pop up add soliciting money from readers to support Wikipedia and keep it in business. Therefore you are using my Trademark to make money for your company. You're doing this while creating a false article to do so. I don't believe your terms of service allow for that. As long as we can work together to keep the page accurate without the fragile ego's of your Moderators publicly engaging in power trips, then I can agree to that. It's not just your Moderators and their lousy attitudes towards me. All you have to do is read the exchange between the moderators themselves in the edits pages. They argued with each other, one told another that their "attitude sucks", another one accused the other of "throwing a tantrum". It's embarrassing and leads to additional conflict when they bring that same childishness in their replies to Myself and their retaliatory edits against Myself. They removed the entire "2010's" section that dealt with my ownership of the company despite the information being easily cited with 3rd party sources. So please do not tell me that they are not taking a confrontational stance against Me when they are making edits in violation of your own Policies.WCPWowner (talk) 21:18, 6 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

There's nothing more here for me to respond to. Pointing out more policies and guidelines will obviously just fall on dead ears. If you want to be unblocked then copy and paste the code as shown in the block notice above. ♟♙ (talk) 15:20, 7 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
