License tagging for Image:154821 view l.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:154821 view l.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Orphaned fair use image (Image:154821 view l.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:154821 view l.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Note - at this time, there is no community agreement that you must change your username. In fact, although the discussion is not closed, I think it's leaning the other direction. I just wanted to clarify, given the statement above. Philippe Beaudette 22:19, 15 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Username[edit]

Your username is being discussed at Wikipedia's Username Request for Comment Page. I encourage you to participate in the discussion. At this point there is no need for your to change your username, however, if community consesus so determines you may be asked to do so, or may choose to do so voluntarily. Philippe Beaudette 21:17, 15 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Username Allowed[edit]

Hello, Whataboutbob. While there had been some discussion here about whether your username met Wikipedia policy on what usernames editors can use, the result was to allow it, and that discussion has now been closed. If you would like to see what concerns were raised, you can still find that discussion in the archive. You do not need to change your username. However, if you ever wish to do so, it is possible for you to keep your present contributions history under a new name: simply request a new name here following the guidelines on that page, rather than creating a whole new account. Thank you. -- -- Chrislk02 (Chris Kreider) 01:32, 16 February 2007 (UTC) -- Chrislk02 (Chris Kreider) 01:32, 16 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Appreciate the added citation to the film article. Just to let you know, the "cite journal" template is reserved for academic journals, and I assume you're talking about the Empire magazine. "Cite news" is a better suited template for entertainment magazines, newspaper articles, and online articles. I have a question, though -- the date is marked as 2006-04. Do you mean March 2007? I assume with the newness of the information that it's the March issue of the magazine, released in February. —Erik (talkcontribreview) - 23:31, 25 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hannibal[edit]

Well, a lot of unneeded information was added in, as well as a bit being removed. Many of your changes were actually quite good, however, some were just a bit unneeded and added a mass of unneeded length. Also, please stick to the standard spellings "Lecter", "Verger", and "Rinaldo" rather than "Lector", "Vergor", and "Ronaldo", and please stick with "Laurentiis" rather than "Laurentiss". Thanks, and I hope you don't feel like I'm just shooting down your edits, because I'm not though I may have made it seem as though I was. Dr. Hannibal Lecter 01:08, 11 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Alovemoment56.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Alovemoment56.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Attack[edit]

With regards to your comments on Talk:Canceled Superman films: Please see Wikipedia's no personal attacks policy. Comment on content, not on contributors. Personal attacks damage the community and deter users. Note that continued personal attacks will lead to blocks for disruption. Please stay cool and keep this in mind while editing. Thank you.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 16:03, 22 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know. I lot of what happens on that page escapes many editors because it isn't an important page, and one that is in the process of being phased out. A Superman film series page is being created and all of the verifiable, reliably cited information from the "Canceled Superman films" article is going to be merged into this new page, under "Failed projects". Regardless, you cannot go around calling people idiots, cunts, twats, gimps, or the like. It's rude and not tolerated. I think the best thing to do is just either strike out, or remove completely the first paragraph of you concerns as they don't really address anything other than how you feel about the other editors. I'd change the title of the section as well. This will remove any further backlash from other editors that see the comments. I wouldn't help the situation to have a bunch of editors redundantly tell you the same thing I did.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 16:10, 22 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Discord.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Discord.jpg. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Ilse@ 21:44, 15 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for adding a rationale. The rationale should describe how the image significantly increases the reader's understanding of the topic (in a way words alone cannot) for each article it is used in. I believe that only a claim that the image is significant is not enough. For more information, please read WP:NFCC (see criterion #8). Let me know if you need help. – Ilse@ 00:08, 16 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Unspecified source for Image:AS_elms.JPG[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:AS_elms.JPG. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Unspecified source for Image:RM_avtak2.JPG[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:RM_avtak2.JPG.

If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 16:24, 29 June 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ShakespeareFan00 16:24, 29 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image copyright problem with Image:RM_avtak2.JPG[edit]

Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:RM_avtak2.JPG. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. ShakespeareFan00 16:24, 29 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Die Another Day publicity photograph[edit]

Hi there,

Are you sure the Die Another Day picture, that you placed on the Pierce Brosnan page, is your own work? I don't mean to cause offence if it is, but it just looks like a screenshot from the actual film. Brosnan's article is currently rated GA; lack of fair-use rationales will definitely be a contribution if it loses it. Thanks for reading.—My Name Is URL 18:23, 29 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

the image appears to be a photo of a photo. That would mean that it is a derivative of the original photo and you can't release it into the public domain.Genisock2 21:33, 29 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Photos[edit]

Hi, thanks for uploading film images but if they are promotional images you can't tag them as public domain even if you scanned the images yourself- you need to use {{promo}}. Gustav von Humpelschmumpel 11:03, 12 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Unfortunately your photo of Blair when he was younger was deleted- did you scan this from a magazine/newspaper or did you actually take the original photo at that time? If so, how did you know Blair? Thanks Gustav von Humpelschmumpel 11:04, 12 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Same question for Image:AS elms.JPG? Gustav von Humpelschmumpel 11:06, 12 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
And also Image:Ridleyphototvhan.JPG. You state in the edit summary that you took it from the Hannibal DVD. Later you changed to a public domain tag. The fact that you make a photo/or screenshot of another work does not entitle you to release it under a public domain tag. If I make a picture of Mickey Mouse the copyright still belongs to Disney. Orphaned non-free image (Image:Agoodyearposter.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Agoodyearposter.jpg. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Alfonso fistula[edit]

The article Alfonso fistula has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This was done because the article seemed to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it did not indicate how or why the subject is notable, that is, why an article about that subject should be included in Wikipedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert notability may be deleted at any time. If you can indicate why the subject is really notable, you are free to re-create the article, making sure to cite any verifiable sources.

Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, and for specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for musicians, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. The source you cited does not mention this person. NawlinWiki 17:55, 21 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Hannibal knife.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Hannibal knife.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 10:39, 1 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
