Re. recent sock block in need of a few page protections

Please see Wikipedia:Sockpuppet_investigations/Noname_JR#Comments_by_other_users. This is also the method used with some other single-topic-disruption LTA, so would make sense here. Thanks, RandomCanadian (talk / contribs) 19:35, 9 November 2021 (UTC)

Possible inappropriate use of talk page by an editor you blocked

Here, this editor placed an "unblocked" template on their talk page. I don't know if this was an attempt to unblock themselves or an incorrectly done attempt at an unblock request. TornadoLGS (talk) 04:25, 17 November 2021 (UTC)

Hey! I'm sure you were already on this but you forgot to add the template stating that an IP has been blocked when you recently blocked an IP for a school block. Administrators will no longer be autopatrolled

A recently closed Request for Comment (RFC) reached consensus to remove Autopatrolled from the administrator user group. You may, similarly as with Edit Filter Manager, choose to self-assign this permission to yourself. This will be implemented the week of December 13th, but if you wish to self-assign you may do so now. To find out when the change has gone live or if you have any questions please visit the Administrator's Noticeboard. 20:07, 7 December 2021 (UTC)

How we will see unregistered users

Hi!

You get this message because you are an admin on a Wikimedia wiki.

When someone edits a Wikimedia wiki without being logged in today, we show their IP address. As you may already know, we will not be able to do this in the future. This is a decision by the Wikimedia Foundation Legal department, because norms and regulations for privacy online have changed.

Instead of the IP we will show a masked identity. You as an admin will still be able to access the IP. There will also be a new user right for those who need to see the full IPs of unregistered users to fight vandalism, harassment and spam without being admins. Patrollers will also see part of the IP even without this user right. We are also working on better tools to help.

If you have not seen it before, you can read more on Meta. If you want to make sure you don’t miss technical changes on the Wikimedia wikis, you can subscribe to the weekly technical newsletter.

We have two suggested ways this identity could work. We would appreciate your feedback on which way you think would work best for you and your wiki, now and in the future. You can let us know on the talk page. You can write in your language. The suggestions were posted in October and we will decide after 17 January.

Thank you. /Johan (WMF)

Disruptive IP at Siemens Charger

Hi Widr, I saw you gave User:75.133.99.177 a temp block for disruptive editing recently. Well, they're back at it again today [1] [2] [3] and ignored a request to communicate from me on their talk page, so it looks like another block and/or semiprotection is needed to dissuade them. Thanks. Trainsandotherthings (talk) 04:48, 6 January 2022 (UTC)

So I misjudged them?

Regarding the IP range you blocked for two years, I am quite interested to know what the issue was there? Is there some sort of backstory that I don't know about? I thought that they seemed fairly good faith edits but were they just rather sneaky? Mako001 (C)  (T)  13:16, 9 January 2022 (UTC)

Hi. Two days ago you blocked 70.24.29.144 for vandalizing the Jason Aldean article by repeatedly adding false information that the subject has died. Today the block expired and they have already done the same thing twice again. Seems like a longer block is required. CodeTalker (talk) 17:18, 14 January 2022 (UTC)

IP range from Indonesia evading a block

About a month ago, you imposed a six-month block on an IP range from Indonesia. Well, another set of IPs (114.10.16.0/21 it looks like), which is also from Indonesia, is making the same kind of disruptive edits, mainly adding international networks to the infoboxes for television program and awards articles (against the instructions which call for only the original networks). As the nature of their edits is the same as the blocked range, I thought I'd bring this to your attention. MPFitz1968 (talk) 10:13, 27 January 2022 (UTC)

I'm now seeing the disrupting IP range as at least 114.10.0.0/19 after seeing the edits at a number of articles in the American Music Awards series, like [4], [5], [6], [7] and [8]. Compared to yesterday's set of edits [9], [10], [11], [12] and [13]. And the ones by the blocked range beginning with 36.81 [14], [15], [16] and [17]. This is only a small set of the articles they have been targeting, and it's not limited to the American Music Awards or awards shows in general. Given the large range, like with the one you blocked, I can understand if doing so with this current one may present WP:COLLATERAL issues, and right now, I'm not sure I should be taking the large set of articles to WP:RPP. What is going on

Yesterday there was a lot of vandalism that added the text "WHAT IS UP UP UP!? ADOPT ME RULES! (And Roblox)", and it was done from a diverge IP range. How was that possible? So many IPv4 and IP v6 ranges. Can anyone own so many ip ranges? Today again that type of editing appeared from 2001:FD8:17C2:E6B5:0:0:0:0/64 and 111.90.192.0/19. How is all this possible? How can a person own so many IP ranges? ItcouldbepossibleTalk 06:52, 1 February 2022 (UTC)

User making disruptive edits

This user, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/123.208.211.136, is making disruptive edits. They keep adding and removing a list of pages they want to edit (this is the list: 123.208.211.136 calls for the to do list:

  • Martinique recorded 100,000 cases.
  • Iceland, Hong Kong, New Zealand and Brunei recorded 100,000 cases.
  • South Korea, Bulgaria, Croatia, Lebanon, Norway, Tunisia, Hong Kong, Singapore and Lithuania recorded 1,000,000 cases.
  • South Korea recorded 1,000,000 cases.
  • UK signs 500, 501, 543, 521, Blind Spot (Unofficial), 522, 551.1 (frog), 504.1, 504.1 (Rotated), 544.1, 505.1, 506.1, 544, 507.1, 581, 550, 545, 770, 543.1, 554.2, 554, Flood, Gate, No smoking, 554.1, 552, 584, 7001, 582, 559, 771...
  • Ugandan road signs
  • Hong Kong road signs (103, 104, etc.)
  • Blind spot road sign
  • Old signs in the UK (such as Fog, Ice, Snowdrifts, Side Road Junctions, Children) and the Netherlands and pre-Worboys (?)
  • Qatar road signs (R100, etc.)
  • Australian service symbols S15, S2, S11-2, S25, S3, S16 or S16A
  • Australian road sign W4-11, W7-13 or W9-3
  • South Australian road sign W2-57
  • Former USSR road signs
  • Road signs in former Yugoslav countries
  • Kuwait signs
  • Malay, Philippine and Norwegian signage
  • Signs in Sweden, Aland and Jordan
  • Czech and Slovak road signs history
  • Croatian road signs) on a number of pages, including the page for Australian game show Hard Quiz. It’s starting to get really annoying how they keep adding this list, only for them to remove it almost immediately. If you feel that they need to be blocked, that would be great. If not, then a warning will suffice. Dipper Dalmatian 06:42, 24 March 2022 (UTC)

About the revisions removed from Chaz Bono

If your removing it for BLP violation, can you also remove my one with the edit summary Remove {{pp-vandalism}} - {{pp-pc1}} is the correct one here and we dont need the other, as it was accidentally squished between vandalism and also has the violation.
