Al Gore's <redacted>[edit]

I pretty much said it all in the title. Wikipedia increasingly suffers from a growing reputation for political correctness and left-wing bias, which threatens the minimal credibility which your project has at this time. Everyone involved in "policing" Wikipedia would do well to reform your approach to biography toward a more politically neutral perspective before you lose all credibility altogether. Al Gore does not deserve your shielding against his own bad behavior.174.103.158.201 (talk) 22:21, 8 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Please read Verifiability, BLP, WP:BIO and NOR to understand our perspective and why everything you might wish to write cannot be written in a biography. Thanks. Wifione Message 03:03, 18 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

proposed changes to Byzantine Empire article[edit]

I am interested in Byzantine history and find the final collapse and aftermath of the Empire to be interesting. I felt some details were lacking, so I found what I could online. Since the subject article is a featured article, are there any restrictions on adding material? I found some new material and only some of it comes from scholarly sources. However, I think it is all valid.Bill Pollard (talk) 07:15, 11 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Bill, there are no particular restrictions as long as you stick to our sourcing policies. Feel free to write back for more assistance. Wifione Message 03:04, 18 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed you had blocked user Baboon43 .......[edit]

... in the April 2012 timeframe. I found this out because about a half-hour ago, this user put a section called "Cowards" on my talk page, with the line "cowards don't belong on Wikipedia" ????????? I have no idea who this nut is, or why the msg was left. He has recently had his talk page 'archived' and it is difficult to find, because the archive doesn't show up. ANYWAY, I am just notifying you because you seem to have had to use Administrative discipline on him in the past, and thought I'd bring this to your attention. Thanks. Hi Wifione - ok, now I remember who he is - take a look at the various "conspiracy theory" posts here:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Syrian_uprising_(2011–present) [Request Move 2]- seems to be trolling. Couple of other editors also admonished him. HammerFilmFan (talk) 04:56, 18 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Hammer, I've started keeping a watch on the comments of Baboon. Baboon, this is again a straightforward advice before a formal warning to stop addressing individuals in the manner that you seem to be doing. Wifione Message 09:38, 20 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Article feedback edit tag[edit]

Hi Wifione. I noticed that you are an edit filter manager. I was hoping we could create an edit tag that appears when someone adds feedback to an article. That way, you could filter edits for feedback. It could be similar to the "Section blanking" style tags, but would instead say something like "Adding article feedback". Question[edit]

Hello Wifione, how are you today? I am a new Wikipedia contributor (And I hope to be for a long time and maybe an Administrator in the future), Since you are someone who makes nominations for admin ship, I am wondering if you could answer one question, How long would you say is a long enough time to prove to the community you are a good future administrator? A few months, A year? how long would you say.

Thanks, John F. Lewis (talk) 01:16, 29 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi John and welcome to wikipedia! There has never been any editor who passes WP:RFA with experience less then 6 months. Lately, the standards of RFA have gone high thus community, to trust anyone looks upon regular editing of 10 months or 1 year. It is not only dependent on experience. Factors such as judgement skills, content contributions, civility and knowledge in admin-related areas are one of the major factors which editor take for consideration during RFA. You might also like to read Wikipedia:Miniguide to requests for adminship. Cheers! TheSpecialUser TSU 01:28, 29 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

GOCE mid-drive newsletter[edit]

Guild of Copy Editors September 2012 backlog elimination drive mid-drive newsletter

  • Participation: Out of 37 people signed up for this drive so far, 19 have copy-edited at least one article, about the same as the last drive. If you've signed up but haven't yet copy-edited any articles, every bit helps; if you haven't signed up yet, it's not too late. Join us!
  • Progress report: We're almost on track to meet our targets for the drive. Great work, guys. We have reduced our target group of articles—August, September, and October 2011—by about 44%, and the overall backlog has been reduced by 58 articles so far, to around 2600 articles. The biggest difference between this drive and the previous one is a stronger focus on large articles, so total word counts are still comparable.

ISB wiki page[edit]

Hi Wifione

I am not that old to Wiki and have contributed to the ISB page in the past. Going thru your latest changes, I have a few questions for you:

  • What language did you find promotional on the page? Trying to learn more and more about Wiki, I have tried to oversee as well as add information that was neutral and factual in its tone
  • Why do you consider non-accreditation by AICTE as a controversy? While you yourself have kept the info on the former Dean stating that ISB did not reach AICTE - why does need to be the intro and be regarded as a controversy?
  • Between AICTE & AACSB - who do you think recognizes schools? AICTE is an Indian body that is concerned with meeting of fixed criterion and 'approves' institutes while AACSB is the oldest global accreditation agency.

Let me know your thoughts so that I can know the way forward in the future
