I think it might be necssary to show bit more how the three articles are related - pity you cannot use a map or two - I also think the emphasis upon what the Derwent does to all this needs to be played up a bit - its been a damned nuisance for the last 100 years and sure it will be for the next - I would also try a bit more for some refs in the smaller of the three - I think STIP desperately needs a map SatuSuro 08:45, 8 January 2010 (UTC)

Actually there a heaps of very small trivial issues which i cannot deal with in detail at the mo - but I would say for the start of an article it is an excellent one and is a long time needed fill inthe black hole of the mess - probably at a very rushed point - the need for a tassie map - and for a full list of the old stations - somewhere is needed - also the categories - I am not happy at all with - but hey I will have to get back on that - there is a mix of parent child cats and the company defunct - I thought there was a closed/defunct/disused for government lines cat - probably need to start one as well somewhere - anyways - will try to get back to you soon - otherwise it is a good start - well done! re: Template:South Line

My bad. Now I've removed the {{pagename}} in the {{BS-header}} and added back the correct template name for the Navbar parameter ({{{2}}}). You can change the title text parameter ({{{1}}}) to your preference. I think the default Route map should be fine, but you got the option. -- Sameboat - 同舟 (talk) 00:59, 15 January 2010 (UTC)

The break is cuased by the collapsible sections which their text columns are longer than the non-collapsible rows. Compare my edit you'll see that I've added the parameter tw (text column width) in 1 of the non-collapsible BS row template to override the text column lenght of collapsible sections. (the width in {{BS-header}} is added just for better collapsed result of the whole map table and is not neccessary.) You can read the instruction in wp:ROUTE#Collapsible sections for more information. As a request, please check the grammar of that project page if you have the time. Because I'm not a native EN speaker, and that project page needs better English to guide the fresh users. -- Sameboat - 同舟 (talk) 04:08, 15 January 2010 (UTC)
I usually input the tw value by trial and error. Methodologically, first be sure there's some text in the widest startCollapsible template and then preview. Then print the screen of the map then paste it into Paintbrush or Photoshop. Then use the rectangular selection tool to measure the width from the beginning of the text to the closing bracket in the widest startCollapsible row. The width and length would be displayed in the bottom status bar of the graphic software. In the case of {{Emu Bay Railway Line}}, it's 136px wide, so I put tw=150px in one of the non-collapsible row to ensure most browsers will produce the preferable result. I checked the history of your sandbox and as I thought, you were confused by (or I confused you due to) the multiple availability of the width entries in the map. Only the tw parameter of the BS# row template ({{BS}}, {{BS2}}, {{BS3}}, etc.) will take the effect. The width entry for {{BS-header}} is unable to change the collapsible section behaviour and is just there for perfectism and can be ignored. wtf - who the hell uses Melba Line? - I do think the emu bay article should stay the same name and have maybe a redirect from melba line - and have something with good cites to show that it is used in the new name - SatuSuro 09:49, 16 January 2010 (UTC)

Hey real life grabs me by the collar before i can get into checking stuff - ok so - apologies - the new system uses melba line - I dont like it - but hey - what i suggest is separate arts -

  • (1) zeehan- emu bay railway line - showing that it was known as emu bay from x to x, now as melba line (in other words we need to work out a compromise here)
  • (2) emu bay railway about the company (it was indeed iconic as one of the few australian private railway companies that succeeded and lasted like it did - longer than either midland wa or silverton nsw),
  • (3) 1912 north mount lyell rail trip needs to be expanded on the 1912 disaster art - showing the way it went - and how it connected

Mate - never defer to my atrocious pscychological disorder - I might laugh too much at my folly for having acrrued such an edit count without much thought to real life and its demands - as for the problem of rail lines and articles - they are a pain - Australian railway routes and state histories always have different emphases to the point of real annoyance - they dont fit very well. Which makes the emu bay thingo a bit of a dag and a drag - if you think emu bay company and the line can be two sep arts - thats great - we are in agreement and that is good? Melba Line VS Emu Bay Railway

Sorry - thinking about this - the stopping places in EBR not melba - most of them are non existent - they were for the steam operations - and became redundant after deiselisation and also freight to melba - also the general line management by the later EBR did not support passenger usage so there were even more taken out - also the Pieman Hydro saw more reduced - so the Melba one is better just the table of genuine (very few now) locations that are actually part of the running of the railway - ok? geeze it must belate where you are :) SatuSuro 15:11, 16 January 2010 (UTC)
read my explanation at melba - the current operation has literally no sign of many of those stoppng places - even in the 1970s the guildford location was not even recognisable as a former station - not a good idea imho :) SatuSuro 15:23, 16 January 2010 (UTC)
The ASG's and other less gutsy steam engines needed lots of water fillups on the line and that was the reason for some of the locations - there are some good watering photos but i dont think they are PD unfortunately :( SatuSuro 15:27, 16 January 2010 (UTC)
Wish we had access to some of the operational history of the latter part of the ebr - might do some digging - it might just identify which locations they still had parts of their workings - ie signalling or operatinal stopping points - the thing is the steam operation neede so much more - once they got the bigguns after the new bridges after the pieman scheme got done - it swould have been so much strealined even more so after my living in queenie in the 70's SatuSuro 15:30, 16 January 2010 (UTC)

Is western tasmanian railway history - just trying to make head or tail of who was doing to what and why and how in 1890-1910 is like a grand opera - and all the comings and goings - hell of lot more colour than the current bland faces in the parl house hobart - I now realise why I left the main west coast tas rail history art the way i did - there are more rabbits and holes than there are weeds on the old queenstown landing strip (aka airport) SatuSuro 03:30, 17 January 2010 (UTC)

I have heaps of public domain maps of the mount lyell railway lines - but youd have to wait its in a box somewhere:) as for mt lyell and wilderness railway - btw - federal hotels aka pure tasmania aka west coast wilderness railway ....never attributed things in any of their publications that i collected from when in tas 5 years ago, 3 years and a year ago - all mysteries as to who really had any copyright if it existed or not - keep at it im off for a while :) SatuSuro 04:41, 23 January 2010 (UTC)

re: another day, another question

OK, here's the explanation of my solution 1 by 1.

  1. If that's for a standalone map template (not to be transcluded inside another infobox), apply the parameter {{{2}}} of {{BS-header}} with the template name of the map, that's for the v-d-e {{navbar}} display. If the map is transcluded by the other infobox, refer to West Coast Wilderness Railway, include your map template in the {{infobox rdt}} with the parameter {{{navbar}}}=1 to display the links.
  2. For standalone map only, apply the parameter {{{5}}} of {{BS-header}} with long enough width amount until the header text doesn't soft return when collapsed like we did in the {{Main Line}} map.
  3. I've modified the syntax of {{infobox Heritage Railway}} so you can transclude your map inside the infobox just like {{infobox rail line}}. If someone disagrees with the change, you should explain in the infobox Heritage Railway talk page to convince them it works out better to avoid the width change of the right-aligned objects which might cover some of the article text. -- Sameboat - 同舟 (talk) 06:30, 23 January 2010 (UTC)
One more note, just look carefully to the {{West Coast Wilderness Railway}}. I've used the <onlyinclude> tags to ring the map syntax which will be included in the {{infobox rdt}}. The re-development section is out of date, though, there has been nothing around about the development being finished. Hello- If you check place names register [1] you will find Abbotsfield Park listed, but no Abbotsfield at all. Unless this is out-of-date, then this and 6 others which were masquerading as suburbs of Hobart are not so. I've edited some, left the others until I was sure the info. was current.
