A tag has been placed on Duck Donuts requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a company, corporation or organization that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. etothepi 👽 (u)(t) 15:37, 20 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Number of Duck Donuts outlets[edit]

Hey, appreciate your creating the Duck Donuts article, but please note WP:OR. You'd need a proper citation for the 65 figure, which in fact does not square with what the company sez themselves (inferring from "By the end of 2016, we expect to be over 100"). So the 167 figure I've cited is probably credible. Thanks! Kingoflettuce (talk) 14:48, 21 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Kingoflettuce: Hi King, thank you for all your help. I actually know for a 100% fact that Duck Donuts is at 65 locations because my goal is to eat a donut from every store, and keep track of their openings very closely. The articles you have read are incorrect, because they are using predictions that Duck Donuts has made, which have not come to pass. For a better count, you should check DuckDonuts.com/locations and count the number of markers in BLUE, although sometimes the marker does not change from RED (coming soon) to BLUE (now open) immediately. Winterene (talk) 16:39, 21 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Not doubting you actually, but it would be great if you had another source that could corroborate the 65 figure, rather than having to (painstakingly) count the number of blue markers on the website each time (curiously, the DuckDonuts URL blurb sez "100 locations and counting"). It's all about verifiability here on Wikipedia. In any case, all the best with your quest! Kingoflettuce (talk) 16:35, 22 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Kingoflettuce: Hi King. I agree 100% about verifiability, but the problem with this particular datum, the number of locations a rapidly expanding chain, is that the count changes every few weeks or months. Whatever number you see in print will naturally change--in fact, a new location opened just last Saturday. So there really is no better way to keep track of locations than their map. HOWEVER, there is a way to extract a list of locations from that map using code, JSON I think. That is a project I've been wanting to tackle, simply because I need to know about new stores so that I can go see them.

Would be cool if you could do that. In the meantime, I would then suppose that it would be better to just omit thecount entirely until a more solid source (perjaps your JSON app) surfces. Cheers Kingoflettuce (talk) 11:10, 24 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

DYK for Duck Donuts[edit]

On 31 May 2018, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Duck Donuts, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Duck Donuts was named after Duck? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Duck Donuts. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Duck Donuts), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.
