Wars of the Roses edits[edit]
I have found it necessary to revert your recent substantial changes to the article on the Wars of the Roses, for the following reasons:
- The article is on a British historical subject, so US English spellings are inappropriate;
- You introduced a number of incorrect usages, for example changing "John Beaufort" to "John of Beaufort", which is incorrect (Beaufort in this case is a surname, not a title), while demoting "Margaret of Anjou" to "Margaret Anjou" (in this instance, Anjou is a title, not a surname)
- Loss of sense of many sentences. For example, you replaced "the greatest recorded single day's loss of life on English soil" (regarding the Battle of Towton) with the anodyne "many men were lost in this battle";
- Your additional paragraphs on "Other Important People" belong in the articles on those persons;
- Your timeline might be re-added, although it might also be made into a separate article and linked to the main article by a "seealso" template.
By all means Be Bold, but I would suggest that you do not recklessly butcher established articles. HLGallon (talk) 12:26, 16 May 2009 (UTC)
- No apology necessary. Your edits were done in good faith. A reversion was necessary only because much work would be required to correct all the conflicts or other problems resulting from your edits individually. My points above were made merely to illustrate the features of this article, which made a particular style desirable. Wikipedia is full of such unwritten rules, which nevertheless need to be followed to the letter!
