SPI[edit]

Hi Yamla. Is there any chance that this SPI could be looked at-[1]. The disruption caused by this sock-master is off the charts, and includes brazen vote stacking in AFDs and creating poorly sourced POV pushing articles that promote religious heroism. 2 admins have expressed concerns that the first account, Historian2325, is a SPA-[2]; both accounts aren't even trying to hide their links to the sock-master and are openly trying to see how far they can take their DUCK edits. You also dealt with one of the SPAs before-[3] where he promised you that he would never block evade again, and then subsequently went on to create dozens of more SPAs. Southasianhistorian8 (talk) 18:08, 6 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I'll try to take a look later today. The problem is, these are extremely time-consuming given the specific nature of the IP address(es) involved. Any idea if there's perhaps a set of 10 - 50 articles we could just protect instead? I'm wondering if that might be a better approach. --Yamla (talk) 18:18, 6 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Yamla, I'm not looking for any action against the IPs, it's just that this sockmaster extensively uses proxies to block evade, so I thought that listing some of the ones I've come across may help CUs establish a connection or CU findings might reveal that the sockmaster was operating with these proxies. But just to be clear, I'm only asking CUs to look at the 2 accounts, not the IPs. Would it be easier if I removed the IPs from the socklist? Southasianhistorian8 (talk) 18:25, 6 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I removed the IPs. Southasianhistorian8 (talk) 18:29, 6 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Nauman335[edit]

Thanks for the work here as always. I see you closed it but was hoping we could open so it can be evaluated for a behavior block. I think the evidence presented shows they are related and that the main SOCK understands not to use the same IP to avoid a CU. CNMall41 (talk) 18:12, 6 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Absolutely. Done. --Yamla (talk) 18:17, 6 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You are awesome. This is one we knew likely would come down to behavioral evidence. Thanks again. --CNMall41 (talk) 06:07, 7 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Tangential ANI mention[edit]

Well, the instructions tell me to do it, so ...

Information icon There is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents regarding an issue with which you may have been involved. The thread is Disagreement about blocking of 2601:646:201:57F0::/64. Thank you. Graham87 (talk) 08:27, 7 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Acknowledged, thanks. --Yamla (talk) 11:30, 7 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding Special:Diff/1222755351, it might be WP:LTA/SGK, might be another generic LTA though. v/r - Seawolf35 T--C 22:23, 7 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, maybe. A bit more generic a username, though. Still, definitely plausible. --Yamla (talk) 10:22, 8 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Haploidavey block[edit]

The block lifted for a short while, then was re-imposed. This is why I didn't remove the notice. I'm able to edit when I turn off my VPN, but that leaves me vulnerable. Haploidavey (talk) 10:50, 8 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, you need to disable your VPN if you wish to edit here. If you have a compelling need to use a VPN, WP:IPBE may be available to you. Note, though, that simply a desire to hide your IP address is not enough to be granted IPBE. --Yamla (talk) 11:22, 8 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Ha! It might not come to that. You helped me out on a prevous occasion (see my talk, halfway up); I disabled my VPN and the block was cleared a few hours later. I turned the VPN back on, and it has stayed that way, fully protective, for a year or two. Here's hoping for more of the same.Haploidavey (talk) 12:03, 8 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

IP Block[edit]

User:Yamla I'm here to give an explanation that My IP address is blocked and I'm unable to edit Draft Articles. I'm only able to edit the Articles in the Main Space. I didn't understand the problem I'm facing. Please unblock My IP address. I'm not using any proxy or VPN. I'm using my Mobile Data Internet. I follow the instructions when i show the warning that Ask the Administrators to give Wikipedia:IP block exemption right because I'm using Mobile Data. SoryThank (talk) 11:58, 11 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I already explained your next step in your UTRS request. --Yamla (talk) 12:02, 11 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Frankly, we've been much too much spam from your IP address range, spam that looks very much like User:SoryThank/sandbox. I don't think you should receive IPBE. But it's not up to me. --Yamla (talk) 12:03, 11 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
So What do I have to do ? SoryThank (talk) 12:14, 11 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I am unable to Create a Draft Article. Please unblock my IP address.
My IP Address is : 223.123.8.30 SoryThank (talk) 12:16, 11 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Please reread the directions I gave you via UTRS. --Yamla (talk) 12:51, 11 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Yamla: this account is a sock of Nauman335 and has been blocked. In case they are still appealing to UTRS. Ivanvector (Talk/Edits) 14:11, 11 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks very much! I did wonder (but didn't check); the sandbox matched the same topic and same approach as other Nauman socks. --Yamla (talk) 14:32, 11 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
