Colombo Suburbs & Districts[edit]

I noticed you have created few Colombo Suburbs & Districts articles recently. Good work! But You seems to ignore the distinction between Suburbs and Districts, which is very bad. So I removed districts from Template:Suburbs of Colombo. You can create a separate temp for districts or change the name of original temp then include districts as well. Another thing is You seems to copy/paste demographics facts. That is a redundancy. Only mention them if there is uniqueness in the demographics. eg. Negombo, majority is Roman catholics. Cheers!--Chanaka L (talk) 10:34, 20 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi again, Here is the list of Districts of Sri Lanka. As you mentioned they are administrative districts. By saying the districts within a city or a municipality I tried mean a quite another thing. I think you've heard of London boroughs or the 5 boroughs of New York City. One important thing is Colombo districts or boroughs not autonomous or have not administrative powers unlike above mentioned. Mainly they are identified as postal zones and peoples general thinking. Here I prepared a table of Colombo districts. I found them in the information section of my old diary.
Postal codes Zones
Colombo 1 Colombo Fort, Currently a redirect, deserves an article of its own if you can include the rich history it have.
Colombo 2 Slave Island
Colombo 3 Kollupitiya
Colombo 4 Bambalapitiya
Colombo 5 Havelock Town & Kirillapone South
Colombo 6 Wellawatte & Kirillapone North
Colombo 7 Cinnamon Gardens
Colombo 8 Borella
Colombo 9 Dematagoda
Colombo 10 Maradana & Panchikawatte
Colombo 11 Pettah, Sri Lanka
Colombo 12 Courts complex area/Hulftsdorp
Colombo 13 Kotahena & Kochchikade
Colombo 14 Grandpass
Colombo 15 Mutwal, Modera, Mattakkuliya & Madampitiya

I found this map on the net, But its unnamed.

Of suburbs, Suburbs are Cities and towns surrounding the main city (lie outside of the boundaries of the main city). In here its highly subjective. See this. I think now you have an idea. Best of Luck!--Chanaka L (talk) 04:34, 23 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Zennman, I slightly changed the temp by adding a new list under Sri Jayawardenapura Kotte as we discussed some suburbs lie outside Colombo. Cheers!--Chanaka L (talk) 03:59, 17 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
