Galois group[edit]

Hi, you have just reverted my change in the article on Galois theory saying that: "revert - no, it fixes F pointwise (which doesn't mean it's the identity map, since F is not usually the whole of E)". Very well, but then maybe you should re-edit that parenthetical remark so that it says something about this pointwise fixing? As it stands now, I find it confusing, even though I know a little bit about groups and automorphisms (however I never got to Galois groups and fields :). Regards, Borys

I've changed the wording a little. Is this is an improvement? If not, perhaps it would help if you could explain what it is that you find confusing (preferably on Talk:Galois group rather than here). --Zundark (talk) 12:05, 27 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Definitely an improvement, but I'm still unsure. Please see Talk:Galois group for the explanation. Regards, Borys (27.03.2011) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.213.206.177 (talk) 12:55, 27 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the edit![edit]

Hello! Thanks for the article fix for Ubuntu (Operating System) (Later it is Ubuntu). Your small edits is very appreciated! Farizluqman (talk) 12:01, 18 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Metro Silver Line[edit]

Hello, my name is Andy Cuenza & I wanted to ask whether you can fix the Metro Silver Line Page to include pictures. This is the wiki page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silver_Line_%28Los_Angeles_Metro%29 I would like to ask whether any flickr photos can be shown on this page. I would like if you may add a picture below the line's name. Example: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orange_Line_%28Los_Angeles_Metro%29 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.22.81.189 (talk) 22:48, 6 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You can't directly use flickr photos. You can only use images that have been uploaded to Wikipedia or Wikimedia Commons. If the flickr photo you want to use has an appropriate licence (e.g., CC BY-SA), then you could upload it to Wikimedia Commons and it would then be available for use in any Wikipedia article. If it doesn't have an appropriate licence, you could try asking the copyright holder - they may be willing to allow its use under an acceptable licence. --Zundark (talk) 07:37, 7 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

In light of your participation in the discussion(s) regarding the treatment of disambiguation pages on the "Lists of mathematics articles" pages, please indicate your preference in the straw poll at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Mathematics/Straw poll regarding lists of mathematics articles. Cheers! bd2412 T 18:33, 23 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • Thanks for weighing in - the straw poll is set to close in about three hours, so if there are any other options you have an opinion on, please do not hesitate to comment. Cheers again! bd2412 T 03:00, 2 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

File names[edit]

Hello, I've taken the liberty to enable the file mover option for your account. It comes without any obligation, but let me know in case you wouldn't want to have that. --Tikiwont (talk) 12:35, 16 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. --Zundark (talk) 12:38, 16 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

About audio[edit]

Hello, Zundark You removed the audio from Mamata Banerjee, why don't you upload the audio for that personalty ? Thanks--Kkm010* ۩ ۞ 13:00, 10 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

(I didn't remove any audio, I just removed a non-working audio link. I know you realise this - I'm just clarifying for anyone else reading.) I can't upload an audio file for this. You could ask 122.163.77.147, who was the one who added the link (but since it's an IP address, you probably won't get a reply). In my experience though, most people who add non-working audio or image links have no intention of ever uploading the file (otherwise they would have uploaded it first), and the red link often sits around for years until someone removes it (which occasionally prompts someone else to upload a file). --Zundark (talk) 13:32, 10 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I understand what you said, but could u please upload the audio, this is a request to you.--Kkm010* ۩ ۞ 04:00, 11 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
As I said, I can't upload an audio file for this (I can't do the pronunciation, and I haven't got any decent recording equipment). --Zundark (talk) 07:33, 11 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Well if you can't do it, could u request someone else who has expertise in this arena.--Kkm010* ۩ ۞ 09:30, 11 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I don't know anyone who's currently active in making such audio files, but I've asked at Wikipedia talk:Noticeboard for India-related topics. --Zundark (talk) 11:51, 11 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for that, I hope someone will upload an audio.--Kkm010* ۩ ۞ 04:52, 12 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Although the surviving edit history only goes back to my edit of 12 November 2001, I didn't create this article, and it already existed on 27 February 2001, making it at least 10 years, 4 months and 18 days old at the time of nomination. I think this is an AfD record. --Zundark (talk) 07:54, 16 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Picture?[edit]

Hi there, just curious -- why was this picture http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Stephan-jenkins.jpg removed from Stephan Jenkins? BrianAshe (talk) 13:41, 9 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know - it was Gpeteskies who removed it (in this edit), so that's who you should ask. In any case, I've restored it now. --Zundark (talk) 14:56, 9 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, you're right, sorry. I saw the line that said "(cur | prev) 13:52, 7 August 2011 Zundark (talk | contribs) (7,956 bytes) (this image was deleted on 3 August) (undo)" but I see now that that was referring to "SjpicJPG.jpg". Sorry for the confusion, and thanks much for the fix! BrianAshe (talk) 16:32, 9 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

File deletion[edit]

Sorry The clips in Alf (album) were not discussed and so don't meet fair use criteria, but the one in A Weekend in the City does, so I will request its undeletion due to my stupid error. Thanks for spotting that and informing me. —Justin (koavf)TCM☯ 17:19, 24 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Re uniqueness of limits in T2 spaces[edit]

Hi Zundark. Yes that is better. I was wondering how to best reword to avoid the confusion. Paul August 18:06, 7 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Winged unicorn referencing[edit]

The evidence of winged unicorns in fiction is present in the articles I link to about the characters who have these traits, do you think it would be good to copy them over from their pages and hosted on WU too? Bonechamber (talk) 05:59, 22 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I think so. They are probably more important in the winged unicorn article than in the articles where they currently reside, in most cases. --Zundark (talk) 07:31, 22 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Wubi86 picture[edit]

Hi, I uploaded a picture for the Wubi86 input method to wikimedia at the time, and inserted a link on the main page which you deleted (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wubi_method&action=historysubmit&diff=430645022&oldid=430614919) I'd MUCH preferred to have a picture of the Wubi86 method there, because the Wubi98 picture appears to be not very helpful, as most people use Wubi86. 79.228.190.178 (talk) 17:52, 1 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I didn't delete any image. (I'm not an admin, so I can't delete images.) The diff shows that I removed a link to a nonexistent image. The logs show no record of this image having been deleted by anybody - it has simply never existed on the English Wikipedia or on Wikimedia Commons (unless it was deleted many years ago, before the logs start). Are you sure that you uploaded your image successfully to one of these two places (and not, for example, to the German Wikipedia), and are you sure that you've got the filename correct? --Zundark (talk) 18:16, 1 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Update: I've found the file that you intended to use. It was uploaded to Wikimedia Commons by Armbrust per your request. The filename is Wubi86 keyboard layout.jpg, not 5strokes86.jpg. I've put the image in the Wubi method article, in the place where you tried to put it before. --Zundark (talk) 20:28, 1 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Do you recall why you changed the Spartacus article from BCE to BC, 10 years ago? If so, could you add your comments to the ANI discussion? I realize that reaches pretty far back. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 00:51, 22 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
