The Black Music Month Celebration 2022 in Nigeria is a contest set to create and improve contents about black music month celebration 2022 in Nigeria.

The contest with the theme Photos in Black will focus on adding missing freely-licensed photos of notable Nigerian Musicians in Wikimedia Commons while also illustrating the articles with the uploaded photos on English Wikipedia.

How to participate[edit]

1 Sign in or Create a new account on Wikipedia.

2 Enroll on the Black Music Month Celebration 2022 in Nigeria Outreach Dashboard to track your contributions. (Outreach Dashboard)

3 Sign up in the participants section on this page.

4 Find an article about any Nigerian Musician that lacks photo. Search for the musicians' photo on Commons and add it to the article infobox by editing and replacing for eg. | image = Nigerian Musician.jpg with the correct title. For photos of the Nigerian Musicians' that are not already on Commons, upload free licensed photos by following these tips and add it to the appropriate article; [1], [2], [3], [4].

5 List the articles edited and added photos under the Articles improved

Jury Process[edit]

In order to ensure transparency and fairness, scoring in this competition would be quantitative; Any poor quality photo added to an article may be disqualified at the judges’ discretion.

The scoring system for the winners would be as follows:

  • Two points (2.0) would be awarded for every new quality photo added to Wikipedia article about Nigerian Musicians.

Rules[edit]

  • Please read the rules very carefully before joining the contest.
  • The photos must be added at the appropriate article by the end of the competition period.
  • The photos must be freely-licensed.

Campaign timeline[edit]

  • Start for entries: 1st June, 2022
  • Deadline for entries: 30th June, 2022
  • Results announcement: July, 2022

Winning prizes are

  • 1st prize: Gift Card: $75
  • 2nd prize: Gift Card: $50
  • 3rd prize: Gift Card: $25
