Interstate 5 in Washington (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs) review

Suggestion: Promote to A-Class
Nominator's comments: Overhauled over a two-year period with the intention of running straight to FAC at the next available opportunity. As much of it was written in spurts, I'd especially like critique on its cohesion.

References
  • I think FAC is again going to ask for locations of newspapers where the location isn't obvious - for example, ref 11.
  • Ref 226 - generally all caps is not preserved if it is not an acronym.

Infobox/lead/RJL: no issues.

More later. --Rschen7754 08:18, 26 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Just FYI, "FLOW" from Ref 226 seems to refer to an acronym, but I can't find the specific meaning out of the newspaper articles I searched. SounderBruce 07:32, 17 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
RD
  • and the state's Highway of Statewide Significance program... the first time I read this, it sounded like that was one of the criteria for NHS. Needs an adjustment.
    • Tossed the NHS criteria out, as it would be explanatory via the link.
  • Not sure what the connection to the Cascades is - unless you're trying to say that the route parallels the route.
    • Exactly that. Added a little note to make it clearer.
  • Cowlitz River turns away from I-5 as it... what is "it"?
    • Fixed.
  • I-5 and US 12 ... passes - agreement
    • Fixed.

More later (reviewed 1.0 and 1.1) --Rschen7754 05:33, 18 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

1.2 had no additional issues. --Rschen7754 23:59, 23 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Fixed the 1.0 and 1.1 issues. SounderBruce 07:12, 9 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Northeast of the mall - at the end of the sentence, maybe a serial "and" is needed before the third highway listed?
  • HOV lanes terminate and leave the freeway at six total lanes - meaning that they exit the freeway on their own ramp?
  • that are noted by motorists - that motorists have noticed?
  • A pair of rest areas... is home?
  • As a general comment: you have about 5 paragraphs for the Snohomish County section, which seems to be the longest section in the RD part (longer than Seattle, and longer than South Sound which is Olympia/Tacoma combined). You may want to even this out. --Rschen7754 07:19, 20 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Review by Fredddie[edit]

One of the first things I noticed is something I caught on my review of Pennsylvania Turnpike a few years ago. It's the use of ..., <verb>ing ... and ..., with .... There are about 75 instances of <verb>ing and 25 of ", with". Like I said in 2013, not all of these are wrong, but rearranging the verbs will make stronger sentences in most cases.

I'll continue after these have been addressed. –Fredddie 20:58, 7 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
