Women's Rugby World Cup[edit]

As the premier international competition in rugby union for women i feel the article could be further improved and expanded. I have done a bit of work on it recently by adding references, tables and expanding a few sections however, i still feel i may be missing things. Therefore i have i've submitted it to get an idea on the current quality of the article and how to expand and improve it.

Cheers,

As the original author of this and pretty much all the other women's rugby material on Wikipedia could I ask that you are careful about how you revise individual tournaments. There are perhaps 100 or more pages of results or information on women's international rugby now - all interlinked and all using the same format. Altering one tends to have consequences elsewhere.

The WRWC pages - as with all of the others - could be expanded. One route is the way that the recent Six Nations pages (and the recent NAWIRA Championship) pages have a slightly different format so as to include information on scorers, officials, etc. There is no reason why this could not be expanded to WRWC pages - assuming the information exists. Equally squad and team information could be included on WRWC and other pages - again IF it exists.

However, you will find that information on the WRWC pages - and others - is thin for a reason. Even with major tournaments it is far more difficult to find accurate information in women's rugby - even basic information such as match scores from regional tournaments or even results (in two or three cases from the 750 or so games traced even the winner of the match is unknown). Simple information such as the venues for the 1998 World Cup took a great deal of research, while the scores from some Six Nations games have still not been traced. Even the relevant RFUs often do not have the information while the IRB are pretty hopeless.

Finally please be careful when making assumptions over the format of tournaments. The structure of WRWCs in particular (especially since the IRB took over in 2002) are very different to the male equivalents and rely heavily on seeding and re-seeding rather than simple pool results and positions. {Johnlbirch (talk) 07:54, 18 July 2009 (UTC)}[reply]
