The railroad of Bay Point and Clayton Railroad Company, hereinafter called the carrier, is a single-track standard-gauge steam railroad, located in the west-central part of California. The owned mileage extends in a southeasterly direction from Bay Point to Matheson, a distance of 8.278 miles. The carrier also owns yard and side tracks totaling 0.800 mile. Its road thus embraces 9.078 miles of all tracks owned. In Appendix 1 will be found a general description of the property of the carrier.


Corporate history.—The carrier was incorporated August 29, 1906, under the general laws of California for the purpose of constructing and operating a steam railroad from Bay Point to Clayton and a branch line from a point about 2 miles north of Clayton to the limestone quarries near Concord, all in the State of California. The date of organization of the carrier is not disclosed by the records. The principal office is at San Francisco, Calif. The detailed facts as to the development of the fixed physical property are given in Appendix 2.
