The railroad of Birmingham & Northwestern Railway Company, hereinafter called the carrier, is a single-track standard-gauge steam railroad located in the west-central part of Tennessee. The owned mileage extends in a northwestwardly direction from Jackson to Dyersburg, a distance of 48.473 miles. The carrier also owns yard and side tracks totaling 5.889 miles. Its road thus embraces 54.302 miles of all tracks owned.

Corporate history.—The carrier was incorporated August 18, 1910, under the general laws of the State of Tennessee. The purpose for which the carrier was incorporated was to operate a railroad from the city of Jackson to Dyersburg, in Tennessee. The date of organization of the carrier was not disclosed by the records. Its principal office is located at Jackson.
