Location and General Description of Property[edit]

The property of The Boonville Railroad Bridge Company, herein called the Boonville Railroad Bridge Company, consists of 0.310 mile of road and a railroad bridge over the Missouri River at Boonville, Mo.

Introductory[edit]

The Boonville Railroad Bridge Company is a corporation of the State of Missouri, having its principal office at St. Louis, Mo. No accounting records of the Boonville Railroad Bridge Company were obtained. Therefore, no information can be given from its accounts regarding its financial dealings, corporate operations, or investments. However, certain information given below was obtained from agreements and from records of the Katy.

The Boonville Railroad Bridge Company is controlled by the Katy through ownership of all of its capital stock except five shares held by its directors. On the other hand, the records reviewed do not indicate that this company controls any common-carrier corporation.

The property of the Boonville Railroad Bridge Company was operated by the Katy or the lessee and receivers of the Katy from the date of its completion to December 31, 1917, and from January 1, 1918, to date of valuation it has been operated by the United States Railroad Administration as part of the operating unit of the Katy.

Corporate History[edit]

The Boonville Railroad Bridge Company was incorporated December 19, 1870, under the general laws of the State of Missouri, for the purpose of constructing and operating a toll bridge across the Missouri River from a point in or near Boonville, Mo., to a point in or near Franklin, Mo. The date of its organization was not determined.

Development of Fixed Physical Property[edit]

The property of the Boonville Railroad Company was acquired by construction under an agreement of September 3, 1873, with the Land Grant Railway and Trust Company. The principal part of the labor and material was furnished by the American Bridge Company subcontractor and the bridge was completed on May 15, 1874.

Leased Railway Property[edit]

The bridge owned by this company is leased to the Katy for a term of 99 years from November 1, 1901. The terms of the lease and the rental accrued for the year ending on date of valuation are given in the chapter on leased railway property of the report on the Katy.
