The railroad of The California and Oregon Coast Railroad Company, hereinafter called the carrier, is a single-track, standard-gage, steam railroad, located in southwestern Oregon. The main line extends southwesterly from Grants Pass to Waters Creek, a distance of 14.507 miles. The carrier also owns 1.862 miles of yard tracks and sidings. Its road thus embraces 16.369 miles of all tracks owned and used.

CORPORATE HISTORY

The carrier was incorporated December 3, 1913, under the general laws of Oregon, to acquire, construct, and operate a railroad from Grants Pass, Josephine County Oreg., to Crescent City, in Del Norte County, Calif., with numerous branch lines. The date of its organization was December 12, 1913.

DEVELOPMENT OF FIXED PHYSICAL PBOPEHTY

The railroad, all owned, aggregates 14.507 miles, of which 10 miles was acquired by purchase and 4.61 miles by construction, less 0.103 mile, the difference between the total recorded mileage and mileage inventoried as of date of valuation. The 10 miles from Grants Pass to Wilderville, Oreg., was acquired under agreement dated June 26, 1915, from the city of Grants Pass, which constructed the property between January 1913 and September 1, 1914. The 4.61 miles between Wilderville and Waters Creek, Oreg., was constructed by the Twohy Brothers Company, affiliated contractors, in 1915.
