The railroad of the Carolina Western Railroad, hereinafter called the carrier, is a single-track, standard-gage, steam railroad, located in the east central part of the State of South Carolina. The main line extends from St. Stephens southwesterly to Halls, a distance of 5.944 miles. The carrier also owns 1.202 miles of yard tracks and sidings. Its road thus embraces 7.146 miles of all tracks owned and used. This is an industrial railroad controlled by the Camp Manufacturing Company, owner of a large sawmill located at Russellville, S. C., which is served by the carrier.
