The carrier was incorporated October 28, 1909, and on December 31, 1909, it acquired by purchase the properties of the Chicago, West Pullman & Southern Railway Company [incorporated February 5, 1900] and the Calumet and Southeastern Railroad Company [incorporated December 12, 1902].
