The railroad of High Point, Randleman, Asheboro and Southern Railroad Company, herein called the High Point, Randleman, Asheboro and Southern, is a single-track road located wholly within the State of North Carolina and extends from a connection with the North Carolina at High Point to Asheboro. Its property embraces 26.928 miles of first main and 7.040 miles of yard and side tracks, a total of 33.968 miles of all tracks.


CORPORATE HISTORY

The High Point, Randleman, Asheboro and Southern was incorporated under the name of High Point and Randleman Railroad Company by a special act of North Carolina, ratified February 21, 1883, for the purpose of effecting a railroad communication between High Point and Randleman, N. C. No use was immediately made of the charter received under the above-mentioned act, but in 1887, the scheme was revived, when by a special act, ratified February 26, 1887, the corporate name of the High Point and Randleman Railroad Company was changed to the High Point, Randleman, Asheboro and Southern.

DEVELOPMENT OF FIXED PHYSICAL PROPERTY

The entire 26.928 miles of road owned by the High Point, Randleman, Asheboro and Southern on date of valuation was acquired by construction and was opened for operation in 1889. The exact date the construction work was commenced and completed is not ascertainable.
