Location and General Description of Property[edit]

The railroad of The Lima Belt Railway Company, hereinafter called the Lima Belt Railway, is a single-track belt line, located within the city of Lima, Ohio, and extends from Fourth Street to the plant of the Solar Refining Company, a distance of 1.288 miles.

Introductory[edit]

No accounting records of the Lima Belt Railway were obtained except some incomplete data relating to the cost of lands. Therefore, complete information cannot be given from its accounts regarding its financial dealings, corporate operations, or investments. However, certain data indicated below were obtained from the records of its lessees and from other sources. The Lima Belt Railway is a corporation of the State of Ohio having its principal office at Cincinnati, Ohio.

It is controlled by the Toledo and Cincinnati through ownership of its entire issued capital stock. The records do not indicate that this company controls any other common-carrier corporation. The property of the Lima Belt Railway was operated from the date of completion, in 1900, to July 18, 1917, by The Cincinnati, Hamilton and Dayton Railway Company without formal agreement. It has been operated by the Baltimore and Ohio in the same manner from July 18 to December 31, 1917. Since January 1, 1918, it has been operated by the United States Railroad Administration as part of the Baltimore and Ohio system.

Corporate History[edit]

The Lima Belt Railway was incorporated January 15, 1900, under the laws of Ohio to build and operate a railroad within or adjacent to the city of Lima, Ohio. The date of incorporation has not been ascertained from the records.

Development of Fixed Physical Property[edit]

The owned mileage, extending from point to point within or adjacent to the city of Lima, Ohio, a distance of 1.288 miles, was built in 1900.

Leased Railway Property[edit]

The entire property is leased to the Baltimore and Ohio for an indefinite term as stated in the report on that company.
