Location and General Description of Property[edit]

The railroad of the Missouri, Oklahoma & Gulf Railway Company of Texas, herein called the Missouri, Oklahoma & Gulf of Texas, is a single-track, standard-gauge, steam railroad, located in northeastern Texas. The main line extends from the Red River bridge at the Texas-Oklahoma State line to Denison, 8.989 miles. The company also owns 3.857 miles of yard tracks and sidings. Its road thus embraces 12.846 miles of all tracks owned and used. The Missouri, Oklahoma & Gulf of Texas and the Missouri, Oklahoma and Gulf Railway are affiliated corporations, and their lines, which are separately operated, form a through route from Joplin, Mo., to Denison, Tex.

Introductory[edit]

The Missouri, Oklahoma & Gulf of Texas is a corporation of the State of Texas, having its principal office at Denison, Tex. It is controlled by the Missouri, Oklahoma and Gulf Railroad, through ownership of 91 per cent of the outstanding capital stock. On the other hand, the records do not indicate that this company controls any common-carrier corporation. The property of the Missouri, Oklahoma & Gulf of Texas was operated by its own organization from the date it was placed in service, December, 1910, to December 31, 1918. From January 1, 1919, to date of valuation it has been operated by the United States Railroad Administration.

Corporate History[edit]

The Missouri, Oklahoma & Gulf of Texas was incorporated March 28, 1910, under the general laws of the State of Texas, for the purpose of constructing and operating a railroad from the south bank of the Red River to Denison, Tex., about 10 miles. The date of organization was not determined.

Development of Fixed Physical Property[edit]

The road owned by the Missouri, Oklahoma & Gulf of Texas, 8.989 miles, was constructed during the period from May, 1910, to November, 1910, by JW Hoffman & Company, contractors.
